A hydroprocessing catalyst with improved performance has been produced that involves an intimately mixed unsupported metal oxide with a zeolite or other acid function. The intimate mixing allows an intimate interaction between the unsupported metal oxide and the acid function. The hydroprocessing catalyst may be used alone or may be incorporated with a portion of a conventional hydrocracking catalyst.

Processes and apparatuses for toluene and benzene methylation in an aromatics complex

Processes and apparatuses for alkylating aromatic hydrocarbons with an alkylating reagent to produce an alkylated aromatic product are described. The processes and apparatuses use a riser reactor operated at a superficial velocity of 10 m/s to 25 m/s to produce the alkylated aromatic product. In some embodiments, a combination of steam and aromatic hydrocarbon is used to lift the catalyst.

Aromatic alkylation process

A process for ethylbenzene conversion and xylene isomerization of an alkylaromatic feed mixture is described. A Calkylaromatic feed mixture can be contacted with two catalyst beds successively in the liquid phase in a Caromatic hydrocarbon isomerization zone. The first catalyst comprises a passivated zeolite containing a ten-membered ring channel framework for the conversion of ethylbenzene. The second catalyst comprises UZM-54 zeolite for selective isomerization of the xylenes.

The new catalyst and designated as UZM-54 is represented by the empirical composition in the as synthesized and anhydrous basis expressed by the empirical formula of:MRRAlESiOwhere M is an alkali, alkaline earth, or rare earth metal such as sodium and/or potassium, Rand Rare organoammonium cation and E is a framework element such as gallium, iron, boron, or indium. UZM-54 are characterized by unique x-ray diffraction patterns, high meso surface area, low Si/Al ratios.
