An optics assembly for a color measurement system. The optics assembly includes at least one light tube array and a polarization effect minimization element. The optics assembly includes a diffuser, a photocell separator, a precision filter and a second light tube array is provided substantially contained in a housing. The color measurement system includes a multi-purpose filter and the optics assembly. Segmented light is mixed and the polarization qualities of the light are modified so to minimize the effects caused by angular adjustments. A diffuser mixes the segmented light. Additionally, the color measurement system includes an ambient light attachment for collecting light from the viewing area surrounding the computer display. The ambient light collected is then analyzed, and a viewing area profile is created. The viewing area profile then can be used by software to adjust the colors displayed on the computer displays.

A method of creating a color profile. The method includes measuring the color of a first object to create a first measurement; measuring the color of a second object to create a second measurement; and generating a color profile from the first measurement and the second measurement. The first object may be a CRT display and/or a liquid crystal display.

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for emulating a fiber channel port. A controller is provided according to the invention that includes a fabric port and a virtual N port. The controller is adapted to buffer incoming data and convert an N port address provided with the data by a host computer to an instruction to the picker to couple the disk drive corresponding to the requested N port address to the virtual N port.

An optical fiber emulator. The emulator receives a digitally-encoded optical signal; demodulates the optical signal to produce serial electrical pulses representative of the digital signal; converts the serial pulses to parallel pulses; propagates the parallel pulses through a shift register whose propagation time is less than or equal to the time of a length of fiber to be emulated. The emulator then converts the parallel pulses at the output of the shift register to serial pulses; modulates an optical carrier with the serial pulses from the shift register; and attenuates the modulated optical signal an amount corresponding to the length of the fiber being emulated to produce an output optical signal whose propagation time is substantially equal to that of a section of optical fiber to be emulated. The shift register may be tapped at any point to obtain an output delayed by a desired amount corresponding to a selected section of optical fiber.

Optical fiber emulator

A serial differential link glitcher system and method which allow for verification of error recovery by an interfaced or linked architecture system. The system and method provide accurate, reliable, and more assured fault simulation, such as noisy interface and dirty link simulations, within an interfaced or linked architecture system for verification of such error recovery and verifies and checks data at a lower level between interfaced devices. The system and method verify disparity errors between interfaced devices and also perform verification of error recovery between electrically linked devices or optically linked devices. At least two devices are coupled together by communication lines. Normal mode allows for normal operation of and normal communication between the at least two devices, and glitch mode provides fault simulation and disparity errors and phase inversion between the at least two devices for testing error recovery of the system. Proper polarity of the communication lines is maintained between the at least two devices when the system is in normal operation mode. The polarity of the communication lines between the at least two devices is switched and inverted when the system is in glitch mode wherein phase inversion and disparity errors in the communication lines are created. The glitcher switch system comprises a switch and a control circuit. The switch allows switching between the communication mode, that is, between the normal operation mode and the glitch mode. The control circuit controls the switch in placing the system in the normal operation mode or the glitch mode.

Glitcher system and method for interfaced or linked architectures

A redundant power system that includes switch array and component failure detection circuitry is disclosed. The redundant power system includes a plurality of available AC power lines, one of which is coupled to a load through the switch array. A controller instructs the switch array to couple an available AC power line to the load, based upon status information received about the condition of a particular AC power line. Each switch within the switch array includes detection circuitry to determine if the switch has failed, for example, in a stuck closed position.
