A system and method for identifying relevant content from other documents and presenting candidate documents/content in a document authoring application is described. A computer-implemented method includes performing an analysis of text of a document being authored by a user with a document authoring application, searching a document library for content elements and documents based on the analysis of the text, identifying candidate documents and candidate content based on the searching, presenting a list of candidate documents or candidate content with the document authoring application, receiving a selection of a candidate document or candidate content from the list in the document authoring application, and including an instance of the selected candidate document or candidate content in the document.

Content element recommendation system

Non-limiting examples of the present disclosure enable creation and management of representations of content through the execution of copy actions, paste actions or a combination thereof. An indication of a copy action is received that copies a content portion. The copy action is analyzed to generate a (live) representation of the content portion. Other examples of representations are also generatable including a static representation and/or a live non-editable representation. As an example, a live representation is an editable and synchronized representation of the content portion that is synchronized with original source content. The live representation comprises a selectable data link that links back to the original source content and an editable representation of the content portion. In response to receiving an indication of a paste action, the live representation of the content portion is automatically rendered inline within a graphical user interface of a host application/service endpoint.

A system for generating proximal menus described herein can include a processor to detect a location of a touch gesture on a display device coupled to the system. The processor can also determine a proximal menu is to be displayed at the location of the touch gesture and populate the proximal menu with at least one feature corresponding to a ring of an operating system. Furthermore, the processor can display the proximal menu with the at least one feature within an executed application.

In some embodiments, the computing device receives a request from a user to communicate with the contact via at least one selected transport mode. Based on the received request, the computing device provides an input field within the contact card. In other embodiments, the transport mode is automatically selected and the input field is displayed. Data from the user is received into the input field for communication to the contact. The computing device sends the data received into the input field to the contact via the selected transport mode. The integrated reply functionality is accessible from a conversation history displayed in the contact card.

A mobile device having capabilities to access connections to cellular and Wi-Fi portions of a hybrid telecommunications network is configured to display a variety of different icons that graphically indicate a current connection status for both data usage and voice calling on a graphical user interface (GUI). A user can put the GUI into an expanded state to show additional information about the connection status including textual descriptions of icons to instruct the user as to the specific meaning of a given icon. The textual descriptions enable an association between the iconography and the connection state to be established for the user. The icons can then quickly and effectively convey connection state to the user in a comprehensive manner while efficiently using the available display space on the device.

Systems, methods and computer program products for facilitating the quick capture and management of task list (i.e., 'to-do') items are disclosed. Such systems, methods and computer program products allow a user of a computing device to access a persistently and ubiquitously executing stand-alone application that facilitates a capture solution that supports multiple input modalities&#x2014;voice, image, video, handwriting and text. This allows the quick capture and creation of to-do's anytime and anywhere. Once captured, the device may use a combination of natural language processing with the power of an internet search engine to identify, organize, and surface relevant content and context for a user as a reminder of such captured to-do's.

Linking data items describing a person into a single, unified contact entry without merging the data items. The data items include, for example, contact data, social network data, and other data describing the person. The contact entry is a single representation of the person that, in some embodiments, combines a plurality of personas of the person without merging the underlying data items. Metadata representing one or more contact entries is capable of being shared across a plurality of devices and applications such that a user is presented with a consistent contact list on different devices and from within different applications. In some embodiments, the user annotates one or more of the contact entries with notes or other data that is stored with the metadata.
