Profile generation for bandwidth management is provided. A content provider receive a notification regarding a new application or media file. Profile information for the application or media file is determined. Such profile information includes information regarding consumption of bandwidth throughout a time period of usage of the application or media file. The profile may be stored in memory in association with the application or media file. A request is received from a user device regarding access to the application or media file. Access to the requested application or media is provided to the user device; the profile is also provided to the user device for use in evaluating whether bandwidth requirements of the application or media file exceeds an available network bandwidth of a network of the user device.

A series of smart phones are mounted in respective tripods to capture motion of a person wearing markers, such as marker balls or reflectors. The videos from the phones are stripped of objects other than the markers and the videos of the markers are combined to render a 3D motion capture structure that may be applied to an image of a VR icon to cause the VR icon to move as the person originally moved.

Bandwidth management based on profiles is provided. A requesting user using a user device may submit a request concerning access to an application or media file hosted or provided by a content provider. A profile associated with the requested application or media file may be accessed. Such a profile provides information regarding consumption of bandwidth throughout a time period of usage associated with the requested application or media file. Bandwidth requirements associated with the request may be determined based on the profile information, and bandwidth consumption by the user device may be managed based on the bandwidth requirements determined for the requested application or media file and available network bandwidth.

The distribution of content over a peer to peer (P2P) network can be improved by utilizing at least one broadcast of the content in order to quickly seed the P2P network. When content is first to be distributed across the network, a broadcast can be scheduled that each peer device with broadcast receiving capability and within range of the broadcast is able to receive. As soon as a peer device receives at least a portion of the broadcast content, that peer can begin redistributing the content across the P2P network. Any errors or missing portions of the received broadcast content can be corrected by requesting a copy of the missing or incorrect portion from another peer on the P2P network.

Performance of WiFi devices, including WiFi access points are affected by a variety of parameters, including the location of setup of device and nearby sources of interference. Optimization of WiFi setup is enabled via quality metrics observed by the WiFi device and provided to the user. The system enables a user to change conditions that affect connection performance, such as the location of the WiFi access point, while the system automatically measures performance for each set of conditions. The system can then determine for the user which set of conditions provides the system with optimized WiFi connection performance. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. Method and system for simplifying WiFi setup for best performance

An input device providing users with a pointing capability includes a sender portion () and a receiver portion (). The sender portion () is adapted to be manipulated by a user (the user manipulating button) to specify a target point within a target area. The sender portion projects a light beam (light output from light source) including a pattern onto the target area. A receiver portion () includes one or more sensor units () located in or near the target area. At least some of the sensor units () receive a portion of the light beam (light output from light source) regardless of the location of the target point within the target area. A processing unit () in the receiver portion () analyzes the portions of the light beam received by one or more sensor units () to determine an attribute of the target point. The attribute can be the location or relative motion of the target point. The receiver portion () may be integrated with a display device.

A system may be controlled by directing at least a portion of a field-of-view of one or more cameras across a screen of a display for the system, using the one or more cameras to track in three dimensions an object moving in a space in front of the screen, and providing input to the system based on the tracking of the object. A system may also be controlled by directing a first portion of a field-of-view of a camera in a first direction, directing a second portion of the field-of-view of the camera in a second direction across a screen of a display for the system, tracking an object moving in front of the screen with the second portion of the field-of-view of the camera, and providing input to the system based on the tracking of the object.

A method for recording a sequence of user actions made when interfacing with objects associated with an executable code is provided. In this method, a selection of a level of detail to record when user actions enable interfacing with the objects associated with the executable code is enabled. Subsequently, the sequence of user actions is recorded. The recorded sequence of user actions is defined by the selected level of detail. Thereafter, the recorded sequence of user actions is parsed by applying rules that enable the generation of a defined number of data types. The data types are capable of being utilized by an application that is designed to generate information that is related to one or more of the data types.
