Therapy systems with quantified biomarker targeting, including for epilepsy treatment, and associated systems and methods, are disclosed. A representative computer-based method for establishing epilepsy treatment parameters for a patient includes receiving multiple indications of interictal EEG biomarkers over a period of time and processing the multiple indications to produce a processed biomarker. The processed biomarker is then used to identify at least one target location at the patient's brain to receive an electrical therapy signal to reduce or eliminate epileptic activity in the patient, and at least one additional signal delivery parameter in accordance with which the electrical therapy signal is to be delivered.

Described herein are methods and systems for clustering events in temporal signals, such as physiological signals. In some embodiments, a method for identifying events of interest from noisy physiological signal data is provided, the method comprising: receiving physiological signal data; generating filtered signal using a filter defined by a spectral band; generating signal peak data by identifying, for each of a plurality of time windows, a signal peak in the filtered data; grouping waveforms corresponding to the time windows based on the signal peak data to generate clustered event data; determining parameters for a noise beta distribution; identifying a cluster of waveforms that does not fall within the noise beta distribution; generating a graphical representation based on the waveforms in the cluster; and displaying the graphical representation.

Systems and methods for linear-time clustering for bounded, repeatable, rare events in physiological signals

A system and method for time-frequency analysis in which acquired signals are modeled as frictionally damped harmonic oscillators having a friction factor that is not a free parameter are provided. The friction factor is selected as a function of the frequency value of the associated oscillator, such that an increase in both temporal and spectral resolution are provided over existing time-frequency analysis methods. The friction factor is also selected to define a spectral band, within which the given oscillator can detect data oscillations. The properly selected friction factor thereby provides the analysis over a broad spectral range that can span many orders of magnitude.

Developing a measure of critical systems-like behavior in an epilepsy patient in order to map epileptic networks, either passively or evoking responses through subthreshold stimulation, and to apply 'therapeutic' stimulations to the patient that cause smaller, but more frequent dissipations of 'energy,' a transcription product, subclinical electrophysiological activity or seizures in order to raise the clinical seizure initiation threshold, through releasing accumulated interictal energy in a seizure onset zone or elsewhere in the epileptic network, thereby preventing occurrence of larger more debilitating seizures.

The invention described is a device and method for repositioning a patient in a bed. Bedding material positioned underneath the patient is wound by a ratchet system and a crossbeam that allows for the patient to be repositioned when the bedding material is drawn around the crossbeam. The patient is moved without physical contact or being lifted by patient caregivers. In one embodiment, the device allows for the patient to be repositioned by a single operator caregiver. In another embodiment, the device can be quickly removed from the patient's bed.
