Described is a method of providing resource allocation for a software defined radio (SDR). The method comprises defining a current time window that is subdivided into sub time intervals, defining a committed time window that is subdivided into sub time intervals, and defining a future time widow that is subdivided into sub time intervals. The method also comprises determining the size of each of the time windows and the size and number of each of the sub time intervals based on the output of a priority arbitration function. Further, the method comprises determining changes in resource allocations in the sub time intervals of the future time window based on system requirements.

System and method of providing bounded dynamic waveform allocation for software defined radios

A designated function or 'golden' slot for implementing and managing re-configurable SDR modules is provided. In an embodiment, the slot includes at least one radio frequency (RF) front end for providing an interface with at least one antenna. In addition, the slot may include at least one slot modem coupled to the RF front end for implementing at least one designated function and at least one input/output (I/O) module coupled to the slot modem. The designated function or 'golden' slot is capable of implementing and managing the at least one designated function in a re-configurable module during standard and emergency operations.

Method of software defined radio (SDR) waveform/function management

An improved architectural approach for implementation of a low power, scalable topology for a software defined radio (SDR). Low power processors and switching elements forming building blocks are employed in an embedded switched fabric architecture network having a repeating building block topology that advantageously employs wormhole routing and has self-healing, fail-safe properties. Differential signaling is used and data rates in excess of 250 Mbps are possible. In one embodiment a dual civilian and military channel SDR is disclosed; in other embodiments, a plurality of independent SDR channels, with or without encryption, are disclosed. A plurality of different topologies are disclosed including torodial topologies having a planar topology with orthogonal connections, a planar topology with orthogonal and diagonal connections, and a cube topology with both orthogonal and/or diagonal connections.

Software defined radio computing architecture

A passive sensing system for determining a physical position of a mechanical device includes an encoding system configured to convert a position signal representative of the physical position of the mechanical device into an encoded signal in a binary format. The sensing system also comprises a plurality of secondary optical paths coupled to a primary optical path positioned between a light source and the encoding system. The encoded signal comprises a plurality of pulses of light each sequentially delayed by the secondary optical paths. A system for determining a physical position of a flight control surface of an aircraft is also disclosed.
