Disclosed is a clock system for generating an error-reduced clock output. In one implementation, the clock system includes a plurality of physical clusters of MEMS oscillators that provide a set of associated clock inputs to a processor. The processor performs RMS error correction and/or Kalman filtering and/or Bayesian particle filtering to generate an oscillator control output to adjust a frequency of a controlled MEMS oscillator to generate the error-reduced clock output. In another implementation, the processor configures the MEMS oscillators into a dynamic plurality of logical clusters instead of relying on a plurality of physical clusters. The processor performs RMS error correction and/or Kalman filtering and/or Bayesian particle filtering to generate an oscillator control output to adjust a frequency of a controlled MEMS oscillator to generate the error-reduced clock output. Also disclosed are techniques for compensating for errors related to temperature drift, tilt, and age drift of the MEMS oscillators.

Ensemble of MEMS oscillators in a highly accurate and resilient clock system

In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method of receiving and decoding military L2 or L1 P(Y) or M-Code signals and re-transmitting these in real-time as legacy L1-C/A signals. The decoding process of the P(Y) or M-code is done through the programming by the user of secret keys into an embodiment of this invention. These military code signals are then decoded into standard PVT/PNT information which are typically transmitted on an industry standard serial port and format, which are then re-encoded using a real-time GPS simulator sub-system as legacy L1-C/A code signals, and transmitted to the output of the embodiment of this invention as a standard antenna signal. This output signal could be made compatible with any commercial L1-C/A code GPS receiver, and may thus be decoded by the GPS receiver as if the signals had been received directly from the Satellites. In one application of this embodiment of this present invention the legacy GPS receiver does not know the difference and cannot differentiate between signals generated by this embodiment of the present invention versus true GPS satellite signals received by a real GPS antenna. This embodiment of the present invention allows efficient replacement of legacy GPS antennae without having to change any of the system, setup, cabling, or programming of the legacy GPS receiver system. Another embodiment of this present invention may receive Glonass, BeiDou, or Galileo signals, and output legacy GPS signals to allow a glueless retrofit of legacy GPS receivers to Glonass, BeiDou, or Galileo compatibility.

Method and apparatus to retrofit legacy global positioning satellite (GPS) and other global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers

A navigational apparatus and method for augmenting a GNSS signal to the GPS simulator with alternative position, navigation, or timing (PNT) data, wherein the GPS simulator encodes an RF-simulated GPS signal based on the alternative PNT data when the GNSS signal is not available or is denied. The alternative PNT data may be provided by one or more of an Inertial Measurement Unit, Inertial Navigation System (IMU/INS) module and oscillator coupled to the GPS simulator.

Method and apparatus for satellite-based navigation augmented with alternative position and timing data

A method of receiving and decoding non-legacy GNSS signals and re-transmitting these in real-time as legacy GPS (L1-C/A) signals decoding into standard PVT/PNT information then re-encoding using a real-time GPS simulator as legacy GPS code signals, and outputting as a legacy GPS antenna signal. A navigational apparatus for performing the method may further include an Inertial Measurement Unit, Inertial Navigation System (IMU/INS) module and oscillator coupled to the GPS simulator for providing an inertial location signal supplementing the GNSS signal to the GPS simulator, wherein the GPS simulator encodes the RF simulated GPS signal based at least in part on the inertial location signal for a period when at least one of the GNSS signal or the PVT/PNT signal is not available.

Inertial navigation responsive to temporary loss of satellite signal

In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method of correcting the frequency of a crystal oscillator. The method includes establishing an operating baseline for the crystal oscillator using a frequency reference, storing information in memory, and adjusting the frequency according to the information. The information corresponds to the operating baseline. Adjusting the frequency occurs in response to a power-on event and the absence of the frequency reference.

Method and apparatus to improve performance of GPSDO's and other oscillators

A consumer media player is configured to be electronically coupled to various different types of media source devices, extract media files from those media source devices, and play the extracted media files to a consumer. The consumer media player is also configured to physically hold all or part of one or more media source devices in a manner that facilitates electronic coupling of the media source device to the consumer media player and that provides an aesthetically pleasing appearance to the consumer. In particular, the consumer media player includes a cavity that can hold at least a portion of the media source device. In one of the embodiments described herein, at least some types of media source devices can be entirely physically stored within the cavity in the consumer media player.

An improved architecture for a set-top box that effects a reduction in memory requirements includes a front-panel board and a DTV board subject to a reset sequence and having a non-volatile memory associated therewith for storing values including a power-state value. The improved architecture eliminates the need for a non-volatile memory associated with the front-panel board by querying the power-state variable in the non-volatile memory associated with the DTV board and effecting a boot-up sequence when the power-state variable is set to ON and by effecting a reset in response to certain detected conditions.

The boot-up method includes performing a vertical direct memory access transfer of relevant program instructions from a system non-volatile memory to system main memory. The transferred program instructions are then re-arranged into consecutive locations within the main memory.

An ITU-R BT.656 (or similar) digital video signal is converted to analog at which point a simple 7-state state machine in combination with a 6 bit binary counter generates tri-level synchronized video. The state machine receives vertical and horizontal synchronization signals as well as End-Active-Video and Start-Active-Video signals from the ITU-R BT.656 video. A pixel clock clocks the 6 bit binary counter. Active video is passed directly to the output. Horizontal and vertical sync signals are mirrored at the output with the state machine generating a positive tri-level signal immediately following the horizontal synchronization signal. The high level signal is generated for a period of 44 pixel counts as counted by the 6 bit counter.
