A method and an arrangement, for detecting microorganisms on a surface are disclosed. At least a portion of the surface is covered with a sensor foil in an airtight manner. An oxygen-permeable layer of the sensor foil is doped with an oxygen indicator dye, loaded with oxygen and faces the at least one portion of the surface. An excitation light passes through an oxygen-impermeable at least partially transparent read-out carrier layer of the foil to the dye in the oxygen-permeable layer which is then excited by the excitation light. An emission of the oxygen indicator dye) transmitted through the carrier layer is detected by a detection element over or after a period of time (t). The emission of the oxygen indicator dye from the oxygen-permeable layer is indicative of the amount of oxygen consumed by microorganisms from the oxygen-permeable layer covering the at least one portion of the surface.

Method, arrangement, computer program product and sensor foil for detecting microorganisms on a surface

A system for analysis of a fluid sample has a carrier with a channel. A plug with a sensor can be inserted into a socket arranged on the carrier in such a way that the sensor is in contact with an interior volume of the channel. The sensor can be an optical sensor, in particular based on fluorescence. Optical fibres may be connected to the plug. A camera () may be provided to record an image of the plug. The carrier may in particular be a microfluidic chip and the channel a microfluidic channel.

System for analysis of a fluid sample

In a sensor device, a plurality of light guides having a respective first end and a respective second end are arranged on a common carrier, with the first end of each light guide of the plurality of light guides at a respective defined position on the carrier. A method and measurement system for calibrated measurement of at least one variable of a sample are based on an optical behaviour of at least one sensor substance which depends on the at least one variable. The at least one sensor substance is brought into contact with the sample. At least one calibration area, associated with the at least one sensor substance, is defined. At least one image is recorded which captures at least one of the at least one sensor substance and at least one of the at least one calibration area. The value of the at least one variable of the sample is derived from the at least one image, based on image data associated with the at least one of the at least one sensor substance and on image data associated with the at least one of the at least one calibration area.

Method for calibrated optical measurement and system therefor

A method for determining a variable of a sample is provided. At least one sensor substance is brought into contact with the sample and excited to luminesce by means of an electromagnetic excitation signal. The sensor substance is such that a relaxation time of its luminescence behavior depends on the variable of the sample to be determined. The electromagnetic excitation signal has a defined time-dependence, it is, for example, a frequency-modulated signal or a pulse sequence, in which distances between pulses are varied over the duration of the excitation signal. The time dependence of the luminescence response of the sensor substance is detected and an output signal is generated therefrom by integrating over specified time-intervals. An instant of time, relative to the time-dependence of the excitation signal, is determined, at which a step occurs in the time-dependence of the output signal. The value of the variable is determined from said instant of time. A preceding calibration can be advantageously used for this purpose.

Method for determining a variable of a sample

A method for determining at least one parameter related to a system is disclosed, wherein the at least one parameter depends on at least one relaxation time of the system. The system is excited by a first series of electromagnetic excitation pulses, exhibiting a first defined time gap between consecutive excitation pulses. The response of the system to the first series of excitation pulses is integrated uninterruptedly over time, thus generating a first response signal. Likewise, by uninterrupted integration over time of at least one second response of the system, a second response-signal is generated. The at least one parameter is determined taking into account the first response-signal and the at least one second response-signal.
