A system and method to detect and quantify integration errors in a transit time ultrasonic flow meter uses dissimilar integration methods or schemes employed simultaneously. In a preferred embodiment, a number of chordal paths are arranged in a single meter body such that at least two dissimilar chordal integration schemes can be used to determine the flow rate. At least one of the chordal paths is common to both integration schemes. The total number of chordal paths needed in any chordal measurement plane is less than the sum of the chordal paths used in each of the integration schemes (as is the sum of the planes), thereby reducing hardware requirements.

A flow meter is shown. The flow meter includes a housing extending along an axis and defining an interior volume, the interior volume extending between an inlet port and an outlet port. The flow meter further includes an insert positioned within the interior volume and spaced apart from the housing, the insert extending along the axis. A first region between at least part of the insert and the housing along the axis defines a first flow pathway, and a second region within the insert and along the axis defines a second flow pathway.

An ultrasonic flowmeter includes a meter body including a flow passage having wetted surfaces through which fluid flow is to be measured. The flowmeter includes a non-stick coating adhered to the wetted surfaces of the meter body. The flowmeter includes a first transducer and at least a second transducer arranged around the flow passage to transmit and receive ultrasonic energy. The flowmeter includes an electronic unit designed to generate and receive electronic signals from the transducers and to process the signals in order to compute information related to the fluid flow rate through the passage. Conditioner, apparatus and method

A flow conditioner for a circular pipe having an axis. The flow conditioner includes a plate having a face to be disposed in the circular pipe with the face of the plate perpendicular to the axis of the pipe. The plate has a central circular passage area through which fluid flows surrounded by two or more concentric arrays of segmented annular passages for fluid flow defined by separating and subdividing ligaments, with at least one subdividing ligament having a width different than a width of a second subdividing ligament. Alternatively, or in addition, there is at least one array of annular passages having a radial width different than a radial width of a second array of annular passages and at least one subdividing ligament having a width different than a width of a second subdividing ligament. A fluid nozzle for a pipe having a flow meter includes an inner surface having a contour. The contour is substantially defined by a compound of two ellipsoidal bodies of revolution which prevents negative pressure gradients in the fluid along the inner surface as fluid in the pipe flows through the nozzle in the pipe. The nozzle includes a throat, wherein a ratio of a diameter of the throat to a diameter of the pipe upstream of the throat is 0.7 or less.
