A composition contains a silylated polysaccharide, where the silylated polysaccharide is characterized by: (a) having linked fructose, galactose, anhydrogalactose, or glucose saccharide units provided that glycosidic linkages of glucose are alpha linkages and that the silylated polysaccharide is other than a silylated starch; and (b) on average 1 to 100 mole-percent of the hydroxyl groups on the polysaccharide have been silylated with a silyl group having the structure —SiRlinked to the polysaccharide through a C—O—Si bond where each R is independently selected from hydrocarbyl radicals having from one to 12 carbon atoms, provided that on average at least one R per polysaccharide has a terminally unsaturated carbon-carbon double bond.

Terminal alkenyl functional silylated polysaccharides

The present invention relates to a coating composition which is a stable aqueous dispersion of polymer particles and a phenyl glycidyl ether adduct of maltodextrin. The composition of the present invention is useful for improving open time in coatings formulations.

Coating formulation with an open time additive

A composition comprising: (a) a hydrophilic polyurethane comprising polymerized units of: (i) a water-soluble polyol having hydroxyl functionality from two to four and a weight-average molecular weight from 800 to 16,000; and (ii) an aliphatic polyisocyanate having isocyanate functionality from two to six; wherein polymerized ethylene oxide units comprise at least 85 wt % of said hydrophilic polyurethane; and at least one of: (b) a saccharide having at least 5 hydroxyl groups and Mfrom 300 to 4,000; (c) a dispersant polymer having Mfrom 700 to 50,000 and from 10 to 55 wt % polymerized residues of C-Ccarboxylic acid monomer and (d) a surfactant having HLB&#x3e;11 and 12 to 100 polymerized units of ethylene oxide.

Compositions comprising polyether-urethane-urea additives for block resistance and open time

The present invention relates to a compound which is a di- and/or a tristyrylphenol monoglycidyl ether adduct of the compound of Formula I: where m is from 1 to 60. The compound of the present invention is useful as an open time additive in coatings formulations.

Di- or tristyrylphenol monogycidyl ether adduct of maltodextrin

The present invention relates to a compound which is a phenyl glycidyl ether adduct of maltodextrin and its method of preparation. The compound of the present invention is useful as an open time additive in paint formulations.

Phenyl glycidyl ether adduct of maltodextrin

The present invention is a composition comprising a) a stable aqueous dispersion of polymer particles having one or more structural units of i) a polyurea macromer; and ii) an acrylate, a methacrylate, a vinyl ester, or a styrene monomer, or a combination thereof; and/or b) an aqueous mixture of a i) polyurea macromer polymer particles; and b) acrylate, methacrylate, vinyl ester, or styrenic polymer particles, or a combination thereof, wherein the polyurea macromer is characterized by the following formula I: where A, A, R, R, and Rare as defined herein. Polyurea macromer and latexes thereof

The present invention is a composition comprising a) a stable aqueous dispersion of polymer particles having one or more structural units of i) a polyurea macromer; and ii) an acrylate, a methacrylate, a vinyl ester, or a styrene monomer, or a combination thereof; and/or b) an 5 aqueous mixture of a i) polyurea macromer polymer particles; and b) acrylate, methacrylate, vinyl ester, or styrenic polymer particles, or a combination thereof, wherein the polyurea macromer is characterized by the following formula I: 10 where A, A, R, R, and Rare as defined herein. In another aspect, the present invention is the compound of Formula I. Compositions prepared using the compound of the present invention can be used to form coatings with excellent balance of low temperature film formation, hardness, and flexibility.
