A method of operating a mobile cleaning robot includes receiving a privacy mode setting from a user interface, where the privacy mode setting is based on a user selection between at least two different privacy mode settings for determining whether to operate the mobile cleaning robot in an image-capture-restricted mode. An image stream of an image capture device of the mobile cleaning robot is permitted in an absence of a user-selection of a more restrictive one of the privacy settings. At least a portion of the image stream is restricted or disabled based at least in part on a user-selection of a more restrictive one of the privacy settings.

Systems and methods for privacy management in an autonomous mobile robot

Various aspects include systems and approaches for providing audio performance capabilities with one or more far field microphones. One aspect includes a method of controlling a speaker system with at least one far field microphone that is coupled with a separate display device. The method can include: receiving a user command to initiate an audio performance mode; initiating audio playback of an audio performance file at a transducer at the speaker system; initiating video playback including musical performance guidance associated with the audio performance file at the display device; receiving a user generated acoustic signal at the at least one far field microphone after initiating the audio playback and the video playback; comparing the user generated acoustic signal with a reference acoustic signal; and providing feedback about the comparison to the user.

A front plane laminate useful in the manufacture of electro-optic displays comprises, in order, a light-transmissive electrically-conductive layer, a layer of an electro-optic medium in electrical contact with the electrically-conductive layer, an adhesive layer and a release sheet. This front plane laminate can be prepared as a continuous web, cut to size, the release sheet removed and the laminate laminated to a backplane to form a display. Methods for providing conductive vias through the electro-optic medium and for testing the front plane laminate are also described.

Electro-optic displays

Various types of edge seals for protecting electro-optic displays against environmental contaminants are described. In one type of seal, the electro-optic layer is sandwiched between a backplane and a protective sheet and a sealing material extends between the backplane and the protective sheet. In other seals, the protective sheet is secured to the backplane or to a second protective sheet adjacent the backplane. The electro-optic layer can also be sealed between two layers of adhesive or between one layer of adhesive and the backplane. Other seals make use of flexible tapes extending around the periphery of the display.

The pixel architecture results in a backplane with some voltage spiking, but well-suited for use with electro-optic media having at least a small threshold for switching, for example, electrophoretic media comprising particles.
