A zipper closure includes mating first and second profiles, which releasably interlock along a parting line along the side. A slider can be used to open and close the slider. The slider has a channel, which receives an ear on the second profile, and the ear rides through the ear-receiving channel to align engaging structure of the first and second profiles and roll them together into interlocked engagement. The slider has a splitter on a deflectable tab, which can be pressed into a notch on the zipper closure to initially separate the mating profiles, while moving the slider to direct the ear into an ear-receiving channel in the slider and deflect the ear to a side and pry open and separate the profiles.

A slider for a zipper closure includes a separator plow that is positionable between interlocking tracks of the zipper closure to open the zipper closure by pivoting an opening end of the slider in a direction toward a notch to position the plow between the interlocking closures. The slider can be disengaged by pivoting the slider so that the plow is outside of the interlocking tracks.

A slider zipper closure system includes a zipper closure with complementary profiles of opposing tracks for interlocking and unlocking; the closure a first end stop and a second end stop positioned opposite ends of the closure. A slider device is positioned on the zipper closure between and engaging the first end stop and second end stop to selectively: (i) unlock the complementary profiles as the slider device is moved along the tracks in an opening direction; and (ii) interlock the complementary profiles as the slider device is moved along the tracks in a closing direction. A child resistant slider includes a top member and a pair of spaced legs depending from the top member. At least a first leg of the spaced legs has a first tang projecting laterally away from a remaining portion of the first leg and a remaining portion of the slider. The first tang has a separator plow. The tang can be movable to move the first plow into a position to separate interlocked male and female tracks of a zipper closure. In other examples, both legs include a projecting tang having a separator plow.

An apparatus and method for operably mounting a slider onto a recloseable plastic zipper closure includes a rotor having at least one slider-engaging shoulder; an insertion wedge adjacent to the rotor and sized to slidably accommodate the slider for mounting onto a zipper closure; and a zipper guide member adjacent to the rotor and adjacent to the insertion wedge for guiding and holding a zipper closure while the slider is mounted thereon. The insertion wedge will have a leading edge and a trailing edge and increase in thickness from the leading edge to the trailing edge. The apparatus can be vertically oriented or horizontally oriented.

A child resistant zipper closure for a plastic bag includes a double slider, including a first slider and second slider. The first and second sliders are oriented on the zipper closure such that when at least one of the first slider and second slider is moving in a direction toward the other of the first slider and second slider, the zipper is interlocking; and when at least one of the first slider and second slider is moving in a direction away from the other of the first slider and second slider, the zipper is unlocking. The first and second sliders can be releasably connected together.

A ballistic armored component attaches to the existing retention straps of common combat helmets and provides protection to the otherwise exposed lower skull and upper neck region. A fabric covering contains a soft armor or hard armor insert, and is mounted by straps or other fasteners to existing straps found in conventional helmets. The armor component may be fabric of aramid fibers, or fabric of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fibers, or may be fabricated of a rigid plate of ceramic, polymer, or metal. The armored component adds additional protection from ground-level or subterranean munitions, by placing a ballistic shape on the lower skull region (occipital region), providing significant additional ballistic coverage with minimal weight and bulk. The fabric shell may also be connected directly to the helmet shell, to allow the component to withdraw within the helmet when the wearer's neck is flexed rearwardly.

A child resistant zipper closure for a plastic bag includes a double slider, including a first slider and second slider. A ballistic armor helmet has two or more shell elements which are fixed to one another to define one or more ventilation gaps. The shell elements preferably overlap to keep projectiles from entering the helmet. By dividing the helmet into two or more parts, the depth and extent of the compound curvature of the shells being formed can be reduced, reducing or eliminating the need for gores, by bringing the depth of the compound curves within the inherent formability of polymer coated ballistic fabrics. The helmet more efficiently uses materials, and promotes cooling when in use, resulting in a helmet which covers a greater percentage of the head which is more comfortable and less costly.
