A heat exchanger having a collection tank having an internal chamber and a header connected to the collection tank and receiving a number of flat tubes through apertures in the header. A reinforcing member received within the collection tank and/or the header functions to reinforce the header and/or the collection tank in applications where these elements are subject to internal pressures that would otherwise deform the header and/or collection tank to an unacceptable extent. The heat exchanger may include a curved gasket on each flat tube to match the shape of the flat tubes and a curved header. Also, another gasket can be located between a metal or plastic collection tank and a plastic or metal header, respectively, to prevent leakage therebetween.

A heat exchanger includes a plurality of tubes, a collection tank having an inlet port and an internal chamber in fluid communication with the plurality of tubes, a header coupled to the collection tank and having a plurality of apertures each dimensioned to receive a corresponding tube, a gasket separating the header from the collection tank and sealing a gap between the header and the collection tank, and a reinforcement retaining the gasket in position between the header and the collection tank. The reinforcement includes a first web extending across the internal chamber and a second web spaced apart from the first web and extending across the internal chamber. The heat exchanger also includes a baffle coupled to and extending between the first web and the second web. The baffle extends across at least a portion of the internal chamber between the inlet port and the plurality of tubes.

A housing for transporting a generally cylindrical canister configured to store at least one of a pressurized gas and a pressurized liquid. The housing includes a first housing section and a second housing section that is movable with respect to the first housing section from a first operating condition to a second operating condition. A heat transfer element is coupled to at least one of the first and the second housing sections to define at least a portion of a boundary of a generally cylindrical volume. The canister is generally fixed from movement with respect to the first and the second housing sections when the second housing section is in the first operating condition, and the canister is movable with respect to the first and the second housing sections and configured to be removed from the generally cylindrical volume when the second housing section is in the second operating condition.

The present invention provides a heat exchange system including, among other things, a radiator operable to remove heat from coolant, an air flow path extending through a first charge air cooler and a second charge air cooler, the first charge air cooler being operable to transfer heat from air to the coolant, the second charge air cooler being positioned downstream from the first charge air cooler along the air flow path to receive the air from the first charge air cooler and being operable to transfer heat from the air to the coolant, and a coolant circuit extending between a coolant pump, the radiator, and the first and second charge air coolers.

Radiator and isolation and mount system

A vehicle heat transfer module including a conduit for air circulation, an evaporator in the conduit between the cabin air input and cabin air output, and a heater having vehicle engine coolant circulated therethrough, the heater being in a first path between the evaporator and the cabin air output. A first door selectively opens or closes the fresh air input and fresh air output, and a second door blocks a selected amount of cabin air from the first path. A controller controls the first and second doors responsive to heating and cooling requirements. Cabin and fresh air is selectively circulated over the heater and evaporator responsive to detected requirements, including selectively either (a) circulating cabin air from the cabin air input over the evaporator and out the cabin air output, and circulating fresh air from the fresh air input over the heater and out the fresh air output, or (b) blocking the fresh air input and fresh air output and passing cabin air from the cabin air input over one or both of the evaporator and the heater and out the cabin air output.

Thermally induced failures at the tank/header joint of a charge air cooler are reduced by applying a body of elastomer , to the side of the inlet side header to which inlet tank is welded. As a consequence, the elastomer causes the header to operate at a lower temperature than would otherwise be the case so that its thermal expansion approximates that of the tank eliminating thermal stresses at their interface.

Charge air cooler and method of making the same

A system has an engine (24), a generator (28) driven by the engine (24) to generate a DC voltage, and an inverter (30) electrically coupled to the generator (28) to convert the DC voltage to an AC signal. The system also has a first heat exchange circuit (44) in heat exchange relationship with the engine (24) to remove heat from the engine (24), and a second heat exchange circuit (46) in heat exchange relationship with the inverter (30) to remove heat from the inverter (30). The system further has a single radiator (38) divided into first and second sections (40, 42), the first section (40) being substantially hydraulically isolated from fluid communication with the second section (42). The first section (40) of the radiator (38) is in fluid communication with the first heat exchange circuit (44), and the second section (42) is in fluid communication with the second heat exchange circuit (46).

Single core dual circuit heat exchange system

The high cost of providing a heavy duty radiator is minimized in a radiator having a core and tank assembly 22 including a heat exchanger core 24, a pair of spaced headers 26, 28, a pair of spaced side pieces 34 on each side of the core 24, and a pair of tanks 36, 38 secured to respective ones of the headers 26, 28. A separate rectangular frame is provided for the core and tank assembly 22 and is made up of two each of first and second channels, 10, 12; 14, 16 with the first channels 10, 12 being substantially identical and the second channels 14, 16 being substantially identical. The first channels 10, 12, are disposed at opposite ends of the core and tank assembly 22 and encompass corresponding ones of the tanks 36, 38 while the second channels 14, 16 fit about the side pieces 34 and tightly embrace the same to provide pressure resistance.
