Wearable pulse pressure wave sensing devices are presented that generally provide a non-intrusive way to measure a pulse pressure wave travelling through an artery using a wearable device. In one implementation, the device includes an array of pressure sensors disposed on a mounting structure which is attachable to a user on an area proximate to an underlying artery. Each of the pressure sensors is capable of being mechanically coupled to the skin of the user proximate to the underlying artery. In addition, there are one or more arterial location sensors disposed on the mounting structure which identify a location on the user's skin likely overlying the artery. A pulse pressure wave is then measured using the pressure sensor of the array closest to the identified location.

A system and method for managing software application windows in a graphical user interface having a desktop and taskbar display area are provided. Each instantiated program is represented as one or more graphical windows in the desktop and as a control tile in the taskbar. Control tiles are grouped into control tile groups that facilitate organization and single access control. Project control tile groups allow the grouping of multiple software applications. Additionally, minimized control tile group layout and state may be preserved and previewed prior to being restored.

System and method for managing software applications in a graphical user interface

A wearable sensing band is presented that generally provides a non-intrusive way to measure a person's cardiovascular vital signs including pulse transit time and pulse wave velocity. The band includes a strap with one or more primary electrocardiography (ECG) electrodes which are in contact with a first portion of the user's body, one or more secondary ECG electrodes, and one or more pulse pressure wave arrival (PPWA) sensors. The primary and secondary ECG electrodes detect an ECG signal whenever the secondary ECG electrodes make electrical contact with the second portion of the user's body, and the PPWA sensors sense an arrival of a pulse pressure wave to the first portion of the user's body from the user's heart. The ECG signal and PPWA sensor(s) readings are used to compute at least one of a pulse transit time (PTT) or a pulse wave velocity (PWV) of the user.

The system also includes a graphical user interface configured to be presented on the display device that allows users to interact with the data visualizations via the user commands.

Various technologies and techniques are disclosed that improve data searching on mobile devices. A facet-based search application is provided that has a filter region, a results region, a facet navigation region, and a menu region. A user applies a facet-based filter to a set of data by selecting a number on a keypad or other area that correlates spatially to a filter option in the facet navigation region. A set of data in the results region is updated based on the applied facet-based filter. The user can also apply a freeform text filter to the data by selecting one or more characters for which to search. The data displayed in the results region is updated based on the applied freeform text filter. When input is received from the user to save the applied filter, an attribute label is displayed as a query term in the filter region.

Facet-based interface for mobile search

A system and process for making live digital video feeds simultaneously available to multiple applications running on a computing device. This involves using a live image server that maintains a camera directory file containing the names of available feeds, and the name and location of an image file for each feed. The image file includes image data corresponding to a current frame of the feed and an index indicative of a frame sequence number. Each time a new frame becomes available, image data representing the frame is put into its associated image file, in place of previously stored image data. A client application chooses a feed from the camera directory file, then accesses the associated image file and makes a copy of the image data. When the client wants a new frame, it determines if the image file index has changed. If so, the client copies the new image data.

A system and method for bumping graphical components between display regions of a graphical computer interface are provided. The present invention bumps a selected graphical component in response to a signal from an input device. Bumping involves locating a destination location for the graphical component to be bumped, and moving the graphical component to the destination. The destination can be determined in any one of a number of different manners. Destinations can be located at a predetermined distance from an original location of a graphical component, at an 'analogous' location on another display region, or at an open location in the same display region or another display region.
