A heat exchanger has a first passage to be connected to a source of fuel. The heat exchanger has an outlet to communicate the fuel downstream. A second passage connects to a source of air. The air passes adjacent to the first passage to heat fuel in the first passage. A jet pump is positioned downstream of the second passage to receive air from the second passage. The jet pump includes a tap connected to a housing compartment to drain fluid from the compartment. A method is also disclosed.

Fuel anti-icing and APU compartment drain combination

An auxiliary power unit is composed of a gas turbine engine, a gearbox, and a gearbox driven generator. A mount bracket is mechanically attached to the gearbox. The bracket is for connecting to an aircraft strut system. The aircraft strut system connects to the aircraft structure. The mount bracket has an upper mechanical attachment point and a lower mechanical attachment point to the gearbox. The gearbox includes an oil reservoir, and the lower attachment point is beneath the oil level within the oil reservoir such that said lower attachment point will be cooled by oil in the oil reservoir.

Auxiliary fire resistant mount system for an auxiliary power unit

An example auxiliary power unit (APU) exhaust silencer includes cooling features to protect the outer skin and other components from heat generated by gases passing through an exhaust duct. Cooling air flow through a cooling air passage in thermal contact with the exhaust silencer carries heat away from other nearby components and the aircraft skin.

Exhaust silencer convection cooling

An exhaust silencer assembly for use with an auxiliary power unit includes an eductor and a discharge pipe. The eductor is disposed downstream of the auxiliary power unit and has an entrance opening at a forward axial end thereof. The entrance opening is configured to receive exhaust airflow from the auxiliary power unit. The discharge pipe extends from the auxiliary power unit and communicates with the exhaust silencer assembly downstream of the entrance opening of the eductor.
