The present invention relates generally to methods of use and compositions useful for moisturizing skin and/or lightening or whitening skin. The composition includes a combination ofroot extract and aextract.

Cosmetic compositions

Disclosed is an oil-in-water anionic emulsion for eyelashes, and methods for its use, comprising a continuous phase comprising 35 to 55% by weight of water based on the total weight of the emulsion, a discontinuous phase comprising 15 to 25% by weight of a combination of waxes, wherein the combination of waxes comprises paraffin wax, carnauba wax, beeswax, and candelilla wax based on the total weight of the emulsion, and 5 to 15% by weight of the emulsion of an anionic surfactant system comprising stearic acid, palmitic acid, myristic acid, polyethylene glycol-40 (PEG-40) stearate, and stearyl stearate, wherein the oil-in-water anionic emulsion is capable of thickening the appearance of eyelashes.

Mascara formulation

Described herein are compositions useful for protecting the skin from the sun. The compositions comprise cosmetic ingredients such as zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, butyloctyl salicylate, and a dermatologically acceptable vehicle. The compositions may further comprise additional ingredients such as cyclopentasiloxane, neopentyl glycol diheptanoate, butylene glycol, caprylyl methicone, PEG-9 polydimethylsiloxyethyl dimethicone, glycerin, polyglyceryl-6 polyricinoleate, lauric acid, aluminum hydroxide, potassium sorbate, and citric acid.

Sunscreen compositions and methods of their use

Disclosed are stable sunscreen compositions and corresponding methods for their use that are effective in protecting skin from UVA and UVB radiation. The composition uses a combination of ingredients to effectively and stably solubilize sunscreen agents to create a stable formulation.

Disclosed is a substantive emulsion and methods for its use comprising 40 to 45% by weight of water, 25 to 30% by weight of a combination of octocrylene, avobenzone, octisalate, homosalate, and oxybenzone, and 3 to 5% by weight of a combination of VP eicosene copolymer, acrylates/C12-22 alkyl methacrylate copolymer, trimethylsiloxysilicate, and acrylates/dimethicone copolymer, wherein the emulsion has a sun protection factor of at least 50, and wherein the emulsion is very water resistant.

Disclosed is an oil-in-water emulsion comprising about 2-3% w/w of a combination of glyceryl stearate, arachidyl alcohol, PEG-100 stearate, and arachidyl glucoside.

Skin moisturizer and age fighting formula

Disclosed is a non-ionic oil-in water emulsion comprising less than 50% by weight of water, a combination of non-ionic emulsifiers and non-ionic emulsion stabilizers, a combination of humectant skin conditioning agents, and a combination of UV absorbing agents. The emulsion can be stable and have an SPF of at least 30.

Disclosed is a multi-beneficial topical skin care composition, and methods for its use, that can hydrate skin, increase the firmness of skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles on skin, and reduce the appearance of age spots on skin. The composition can include a combination of skin active ingredients comprisingfruit extract,sterols, caprooyl tetrapeptide-3, tocopherol or tocopherol acetate, and niacinamide, a combination of skin moisturizing agents comprising glycerin and, a photo stable combination of sunscreen agents providing the composition with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least about 15, and a dermatologically acceptable vehicle which imparts a non-greasy feel when applied to skin.
