A loudspeaker system includes a subwoofer. The subwoofer includes a housing having a plurality of walls which together define an acoustic cavity. The plurality of walls includes a front wall, a rear wall, a top wall, a bottom wall, and a plurality of sidewalls extending between the top and bottom walls and between the front and rear walls. A first transducer mounted to the front wall of the housing. The first transducer includes a diaphragm having a major axis and a minor axis. The major axis has a fist end proximate the bottom wall and an opposite, second end proximate the top wall, such that the major axis is arranged vertical, relative to ground when the subwoofer is rested on its bottom wall. The top wall has a handle such that the loudspeaker can be carried with the major axis arranged vertical to ground.

Portable loudspeaker systems

A waveguide assembly for a loudspeaker is provided. The waveguide assembly includes a plurality of panels and a plurality of trays, which together at least partially defines a waveguide. One or more of the panels are arranged to be movable relative to the trays to adjust a coverage pattern of the waveguide.

Adaptable waveguides

A loudspeaker includes a cabinet, a coaxial transducer assembly, and a waveguide. The coaxial transducer assembly includes a first transducer and a second transducer that is coupled to the first transducer and arranged such that respective motion axes of the transducers are coaxial. The waveguide is coupled to the first transducer and configured to provide an acoustic impedance match between the first transducer and free air. The waveguide includes a first plurality of apertures that enables acoustic energy radiated from a first radiating surface of the second transducer to pass through the waveguide and merge with acoustic energy radiated by the first transducer. The first plurality of apertures extends through an expansion region of the waveguide.

Coaxial loudspeakers with perforated waveguide

A ceiling tile loudspeaker includes an acoustic enclosure that defines an acoustic cavity. An electro-acoustic transducer is supported by the enclosure such that a first radiating surface of the electro-acoustic transducer radiates acoustic energy into the acoustic cavity and a second radiating surface of the electro-acoustic transducer radiates acoustic energy outward away from the acoustic enclosure. A first baffle is disposed within the acoustic cavity. The loudspeaker also includes a plurality of partitions, which, together with the first baffle, defines a plurality of ports that acoustically couple the acoustic cavity to an exterior of the enclosure. Each of the plurality of ports includes a first open end, a second open end, and a central axis extending therebetween. The ports are arranged such that their central axes lie in a plane that is substantially perpendicular to a motion axis of the electro-acoustic transducer.

Low profile loudspeakers

Various implementations include loudspeakers and related waveguides. The loudspeakers can include an adjustable waveguide for modifying the coverage pattern of the audio output. In some particular aspects, a loudspeaker includes: a single speaker box with at least one driver; a waveguide having: a pair of opposing walls that are fixed with respect to the at least one driver; and at least one adjustable wall that is adjustable relative to the at least one driver; and at least one fin coupled to the waveguide for accommodating a gap between the pair of opposing walls and the at least one adjustable wall.

Adjustable waveguide

The present disclosure is directed to devices and systems for auto configuration of directional sound. The system comprises: a first and second portable bass loudspeaker, each arranged to radiate sound waves responsive to audio signals. Each portable bass loudspeaker has a sensor for determining whether the portable bass loudspeaker is in an aligned state or non-aligned state, wherein in the aligned state, the first portable bass loudspeaker is oriented in a generally parallel and opposite direction relative to the second portable bass loudspeaker. Each portable bass loudspeaker has an equalization device providing a first equalization setting for outputting audio in response to detection of the aligned state, and a second equalization setting for outputting audio in response to detection of the non-aligned state, wherein the first equalization setting is configured to generate a radiating output from the first and second portable bass loudspeaker in a cardioid pattern.

Auto-configurable bass loudspeaker

A line array loudspeaker has a first group of acoustic drivers comprising a first plurality of acoustic drivers each comprising an axis, the first plurality of acoustic drivers arranged so that their axes are parallel. There is a second plurality of acoustic drivers each comprising an axis, the second plurality of acoustic drivers arranged so that their axes are parallel. The first and second plurality of acoustic drivers are arranged such that a projection onto an azimuth plane of the axes of the first plurality of acoustic drivers intersects with a projection onto the azimuth plane of the axes of the second plurality of acoustic drivers at a first, fixed articulation angle. There is a second group of acoustic drivers that is adjacent to the first group. The second group comprises a third plurality of acoustic drivers each comprising an axis. The drivers of the second group are arranged such that a projection onto the azimuth plane of the axes of the third plurality of acoustic drivers intersect at varied articulation angles.

Line array loudspeaker

Various implementations include loudspeakers. In some particular cases, a loudspeaker includes: a diaphragm; a basket; an electro-magnetic motor supported by the basket and coupled to the diaphragm for driving motion of the diaphragm relative to the basket along a motion axis; a surround coupling an outer peripheral edge of the diaphragm to the basket; and a waveguide coupled to the basket and surrounding the diaphragm. The waveguide has an arcuate inner surface that is complementary with an arcuate outer surface of the diaphragm and extends along a portion of the arcuate outer surface of the diaphragm.

Loudspeaker with waveguide

Various implementations include loudspeakers. In some particular cases, a loudspeaker includes: a high frequency (HF) driver; a low frequency (LF) driver coaxially arranged with the HF driver; and a waveguide overlying a sound radiating surface of the LF driver, the waveguide having a hole pattern such that a sound radiation pattern of the LF driver matches a sound radiation pattern of the HF driver at a reference location.

Coaxial waveguide

A portable public address (PA) speaker comprises an enclosure constructed and arranged for positioning at a first position having a vertical orientation to output audio shaped for a first acoustic coverage area, a second position having an angular orientation to output audio shaped for a second acoustic coverage area, and a third position having a horizontal orientation to output audio shaped for a third acoustic coverage area. The weight of the speaker rests on a bottom surface of a base when in the first position having the vertical orientation or the second position having the angular orientation. The weight of the speaker rests on a side surface when in the third position having the horizontal orientation.

Portable speaker configurations

A speaker sound system assembly comprises an enclosure; a speaker mount housing covering the opening of the enclosure, the speaker mount housing including a hole that exposes an interior of the enclosure and concave horn walls on both sides of the hole; a first speaker positioned in the hole of the speaker mount housing, the horn walls of the speaker mount housing constructed and arranged to determine a shape of a coverage pattern of the first speaker; and a driver array comprising at least three second speakers and extending from one side of the speaker mount housing to the other side of the speaker mount housing in front of the first speaker, the speaker mount housing constructed and arranged to match a desired coverage pattern of the driver array.

Electro-acoustical transducer arrangements of a sound system

A loudspeaker battery charging device comprises a three-position selector that establishes one of a first, second, or third charging mode for charging a battery of a loudspeaker. The first charging mode pertains to an off state of the loudspeaker. The second charging mode pertains to an on state of the loudspeaker. The third charging mode pertains to a fast charge state of the loudspeaker. A controller receives a signal from the three-position power switch indicating a selected charging mode of the first, second, or third charging mode. A switch circuit outputs a first power-supplying level in response to the first or second charging mode and outputs a second power-supplying level higher than the first power-supplying level in response to the third charging mode.

Battery charging systems and methods

An array of speaker modules includes a first speaker module having at least one electroacoustic driver and a housing that together define a first acoustic cavity having a first cavity volume. The array also includes a second speaker module having at least one electroacoustic driver and a housing that together define a first enclosed volume that is greater than the first cavity volume by a first volume difference. The second speaker module includes a first internal enclosure having a first internal volume that is substantially equal to the first volume difference. The portion of the first enclosed volume that is outside the first internal volume defines a second acoustic cavity having a second cavity volume that is substantially equal to the first cavity volume. This configuration enables the performance of low frequency acoustic drivers in the speaker modules to be substantially matched without requiring complicated alternative approaches for matched performance.

Speaker modules having different module housing geometries and similar acoustic properties

A speaker includes a housing, at least one electro-acoustic driver including a diaphragm, and a cover secured to one or more of the housing and driver. The cover is configured to partially extend over the diaphragm to affect an associated cavity resonance frequency of an air cavity adjacent to the diaphragm.
