A display device produces a view-independent virtual image of a three-dimensional object includes a three-dimensional model comprising at least two visually distinct regions. The device also includes a fused imaging fiber optic plate (FIFOP) formed from a bundle of optically aligned fibers. The FIFOP has a (i) a viewing surface formed by the polished output ends of the fibers; and (ii) a shaped cavity formed on the opposite side of the FIFOP. The cavity is defined by the input ends of the fibers and is dimensioned to receive the three-dimensional model in close proximity. The FIFOP is configured to transmit a virtual image of the three-dimensional model to the viewing surface such that the image appears substantially fixed and angle-independent to an observer.

High-fidelity lunar phase mechanism for clocks and watches

A self-lowering toilet seat system includes a toilet bowl and a toilet seat. The system includes a hinge rotatably coupling the toilet seat and the toilet bowl. The hinge is configured so that the toilet seat is transitionable between a down position and an up position. A lowering device is configured to self-lower the toilet seat towards the down position. A fixedly sealed hinge housing has a delay device therein. The delay device is configured to cause a seat time delay before the lowering device causes the toilet seat to lower towards the down position. The delay device is engaged by applying a seat lifting force to raise the toilet seat towards the up position and removing the seat lifting force from the toilet seat. The delay device is configured to reset the seat time delay when the lifting force is reapplied before the delay device has expired.

Self-lowering toilet seat system

A self-lifting toilet seat system includes a toilet seat configured to be sat upon by a user. The system has a hinge configured to rotatably couple the toilet seat and a toilet bowl. The hinge is configured so that the toilet seat is transitionable from an up position to a down position. A lifting system is configured to raise the toilet seat towards the up position. A sealed hinge housing has at least a portion of a delay system therein. The delay system is configured to cause a time delay before the lifting system causes the toilet seat to self-lift towards the up position. The delay system is configured so that the time delay begins after removal of a threshold downward force on the toilet seat.

A method bilayer composite thin-film beam structure is described. The structure incorporates a bulk phase change material as small inclusions in one layer of a bimorph. The structure, also referred to as a 'phase change composite bimorph' or 'PCBM', curls abruptly, and reversibly, at a phase transition temperature. Large curling and effective expansion coefficients are demonstrated. The PCBMs may be employed in various self-assembly mechanisms and actuators.

A music playing and listening apparatus comprising a headband having opposing ends, and having at least one hinge; at least two connectors, each of the connectors having at least two arms, a first arm being shorter than a second arm, the first and second arm forms an axis; and at least two speakers, each of the speakers having opposing sides and comprising an audio output element on a first side and a compartment on a second side, the first and second arms of each of the connectors being pivotally attached to a portion of each of the speakers to thereby allow rotation of the speakers about the axis, each of the audio output elements of each of the speakers generally face one another during a first music listening mode, each of the speakers being rotatable about the first and second arms of each of the connectors to thereby allow each of the audio output elements of each of the speakers to turn away from one another during a second music playing mode; the rotation of the speakers allowing for changes in modes; the hinge of the headband allows the headband to open a wider distance between the speakers in the second music playing mode.

Audio bass resonator

An acoustic device configured for use with an audio source. The acoustic device includes a stem portion and multiple branches forming a cavity for passage of an audio signal when connected to an audio source. An array of multiple acoustic devices or nodes may be physically connected to form a tree-like structure for providing amplified sound in an aesthetically and tonally pleasing manner which fills its surrounding with sound. In view of the physical connectability of the individual nodes, an audio outputting device may be form which is easily modified, scaled, and/or re-configured to adjust its tonal properties and directionality.

Branched acoustic device

A headset apparatus including a headband having two end portions, each of the end portions comprising an angled hinge having two opposing ends. The apparatus further includes at least two speakers, each of the speakers rotatably attached to the two ends of the angled hinged to form two rotary joints, wherein rotation of the speaker about an axis of rotation between the two rotary joints transitions the apparatus between a first listening mode to a second listening mode.
