Methods of forming a toner are provided. In embodiments, such a method comprises forming a toner from a mixture of at least one resin, at least one wax, and optionally, at least one colorant, wherein the at least one wax is of a type and is present at an amount which are selected to provide a predetermined PERvalue for the toner; and measuring a PERvalue for the toner, wherein the measured PERvalue for the toner is equal to or less than the predetermined PERvalue. Toners formed using the methods are also provided.

Sparged toner

A low energy consumption monochrome particle includes a core latex having a core a glass transition temperature and a weight average molecular weight. A shell encapsulates the core and includes a shell latex having a shell glass transition temperature and a weight average molecular weight. The glass transition temperature of the shell latex is higher than the glass transition temperature of the core latex. The weight average molecular weight of the shell latex is lower or higher than the weight average molecular weight of the core latex. The low energy consumption monochrome particles are suitable for high speed printing in SCD systems while decreasing minimum fusing temperature, maintaining excellent hot offset and storage, and exhibiting a matte finish.

Low energy consumption monochrome particle for single component development system

A toner is described containing low melt wax and having a core and shell, which toner exhibits improved fusing performance as compared to a toner produced with a high melt wax in the core; having a core resin with a Tequal to or lower than that of the shell resin; or both.

Toner composition

A low energy consumption monochrome toner includes a surface additive package having a high charging silica compound, an aerating silica compound, a colloidal silica compound, a polymeric spacer, and a crosslinked spacer. The low energy consumption monochrome toner is suitable for high speed printing in SCD systems while decreasing minimum fusing temperature, maintaining excellent hot offset and storage, and exhibiting a matte finish.

Color toner

A process includes forming, by emulsion polymerization, polymer resin particles in a latex, the polymer resin particles being formed from a mixture including one or more monomer emulsions and a non-surfactant-based charge control agent, the emulsion polymerization is carried out with a solids content in a range from about 10 to about 30 percent by weight of the mixture, and forming toner particles from the polymer resin particles, the toner particles support a sufficient triboelectric charge for use under A-zone environmental conditions in a single-component development system.

Process for preparing latex comprising charge control agent

A toner composition with a novel surface additive package for developing images is provided. The additive package comprises a sol-gel silica, a PDMS silica, an HMDS silica, and an organic spacer such as PMMA, and melamine. Emulsion aggregation toner comprising: a resin; a wax; a colorant; an encapsulating shell; and a silica external additive comprising: first silica particles comprising fumed silica particles surface treated with octyldimethylsiloxane and having average particle diameter about 6-20 nm, present in amount of about 0.1-1% by weight of the toner; second silica particles comprising colloidal silica particles surface treated with hexamethyldisiloxane and having average particle diameter about 80-200 nm, present in amount of about 1-2% by weight of the toner; third silica particles comprising fumed silica particles surface treated with polydimethylsiloxane and having average particle diameter about 25-65 nm, present in amount of from about 0.5-1.5% by weight of the toner; and fourth silica particles comprising fumed silica particles surface treated with hexamethyldisiloxane and having average particle diameter about 25-65 nm, present in amount of about 1-2.5% by weight of the toner.

Single component developer composition

A toner particle has a core and a shell surrounding the core, wherein the shell contains a polymerized charge enhanced spacer particle, which is a copolymer of a charge control agent and a monomer. A method of making toner particles includes forming a slurry by mixing together a first emulsion containing a resin, optionally a wax, optionally a colorant, optionally a surfactant, optionally a coagulant, and one or more additional optional additive, heating the slurry to form aggregated particles in the slurry, forming a second emulsion containing a monomer and a charge control agent, polymerizing the second emulsion to form a copolymer of the monomer and the charge control agent, and incorporating the copolymer into the toner particles, wherein the aggregated particles form a core of the toner particles.

Polymerized charge enhanced spacer particle

A process includes forming a filter cake from a slurry of emulsion aggregation toner particles and washing the filter cake with an alcohol to create porous toner particles.

Porous toner and process for making the same

A process includes forming particles in a latex by emulsion polymerization of a mixture including one or more monomers in an emulsion, and about 4 percent or less by weight of the mixture of a non-surfactant-based charge control agent, the non-surfactant-based charge control agent is distributed within a matrix of the particles, and forming toner particles from the particles in the latex, the toner particles supporting a sufficient triboelectric charge for use under A-zone environmental conditions in a single-component development system.
