Methods of generating a graphical representation of cardiac information on a display screen are provided. The method comprises: electronically creating or acquiring an anatomical model of the heart including multiple cardiac locations; electronically determining a data set of source information corresponding to cardiac activity at the multiple cardiac locations; electronically rendering the data set of source information in relation to the multiple cardiac locations on the display screen. Systems and devices for providing a graphical representation of cardiac information are also provided.

The present invention includes systems, devices and methods for treating and/or diagnosing a heart arrhythmia, such as atrial fibrillation. Specifically, the present invention provides a system including a diagnostic catheter and an ablation catheter. A method of localization within a body comprises providing at least one processor coupled to at least one data storage device, establishing and calibrating a localization coordinate system within a body by executing a first localization mode by the at least one processor, recalibrating the localization coordinate system by executing a second localization mode by the at least one processor, and localizing a device within the localization coordinate system using the first localization mode and the second localization mode, by the at least one processor. The first localization mode can be an impedance-based localization mode and the second localization mode can be magnetic-based localization mode, or vice versa.

Provided herein are systems and methods for calculating patient information. The method includes determining a transfer matrix, recording electric potentials via a first set of recording electrodes located at a first set of recording locations to create a first set of recorded signals, and calculating patient information for a set of target locations by applying the transfer matrix to the first set of recorded signals. The transfer matrix is a characterization of electrical properties of tissue between the first set of recording locations and the set of target locations.

A system comprises a catheter configured for delivery to a body cavity defined by surrounding tissue; a plurality of ultrasound transducers coupled to a distal end of the catheter; and an electronics module configured to selectively turn on/off each ultrasound transducer according to a predetermined activation sequence and to process signals received from each ultrasound transducer to produce at least a 2D display of the surrounding tissue. A user can selectively calculate and display various aspects of cardiac activity. The user can display Dipole Density (DDM), Charge Density (CDM), or Voltage (V-V). The shape and location of the chamber (surface), and the potentials recorded at electrodes can be displayed. The system can also change back and forth between the different display modes, and with post processing tools, can change how various types of information is displayed. Methods are also provided.

Ultrasound sequencing method

Provided are a localization system and method useful in the acquisition and analysis of cardiac information. The localization system and method can be used with systems that perform cardiac mapping, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac abnormalities, as examples, and in the retrieval, processing, and interpretation of such types of information. The localization system and method use high impedance inputs, improved isolation, and relatively high drive currents for pairs of electrodes used to establish a multi-axis coordinate system. The axes can be rotated and scaled to improve localization.

Disclosed are devices, systems, and methods for determining the dipole densities on a cardiac surface using electrodes positioned on a torso of a patient. Electrodes are integrated into a piece of clothing worn by a patient. The clothing serves to fix the position of the electrodes adjacent a patient's torso. Ultrasonic transducers and sensors are used to determine a distance between the epicardial surface and the electrodes and are also used to detect epicardial surface motion as well as epicardial wall thickness.

Provided is a cardiac virtualization test tank and testing system and method. A test tank is provided that includes a physical heart model representing the structure of the heart and a plurality of electrodes that output simulated biopotential signals based on an EP model representing the electrophysiological activity of the heart. The test system can be used for training, teaching, or validating a cardiac mapping, diagnosis, and/or treatment system, as examples.
