This invention provides a polymer that is useful in a variety of applications, including as a binder polymer of a coating composition, and especially a packaging coating composition. Packaging articles (e.g., containers) comprising the polymer and methods of making such packaging articles are also provided.

Coating compositions for packaging articles and methods of coating

An aqueous barrier coat for formable cellulosic substrates comprises a blend of A) at least one aqueous polymer binder dispersion at 40 wt % to 95 wt %, B) at least one active filler at 3 wt % to 30 wt % and, C) one or more optional additives, such as wetting additives, dispersants, thickeners, defoamers, and crosslinkers. Crystallinity is present in at least one of the polymer binder dispersion and active filler particle. The resulting dried film has a shear storage modulus between 50° C. and 60° C. in the range of 1.5×10to 1×10Pascals, a shear storage modulus between 80° C. and 90° C. in the range of 2×10to 5×10Pascals, and a shear storage modulus between 100° C. and 110° C. is in the range of 5×10to 1×10Pascals. The total weight % of crystalline polymer binder and the crystalline active filler combined is greater than 50%.

Environmentally-friendly heat sealable aqueous barrier coating for cellulosic substrate and methods of making and using the same

A coating composition is provided that is suitable for use on a medicament-contact surface. The coating composition preferably includes one or more acrylic-containing polymer and a carrier. In preferred embodiments, the coating composition is an aqueous dispersion or solution.

The invention provides polymer particles useful in a variety of applications, including coating applications such as packaging coatings. The polymer particles preferably have a volume-averaged particle size of less than 40 microns, more preferably less than 20 microns. In preferred embodiments, the polymer particles are precipitated particles, more preferably precipitated polyester particles, which are optionally free of low-molecular weight surfactant.

The present invention provides aqueous dispersions that, for example, include the reaction product of an oxirane-functional vinyl addition polymer having an oxirane functionality between 0.5 and 5; an acid-functional polymer having an acid number 30 to 500; and a tertiary amine. Also described are coating compositions containing the dispersion and methods of forming the dispersion.

Aqueous dispersions and coatings

An oxygen-scavenging composition is provided that includes an oxygen-scavenging polymer and a catalyst. The oxygen-scavenging polymer, which in preferred embodiments is suitable for use in packaging articles, is a dendritic polymer having one or more oxygen-scavenging groups.

The present application relates to films and packaging articles having films bonded thereto. Also provided are methods of making and applying multilayered films. Exemplary polymeric films include a first layer adjacent the metal sheet having one or more polyester materials and a plurality of metal flakes disposed therein, and a second layer having a majority by weight of one or more crystallizable polyester-based polymers. Other exemplary films include a first layer adjacent the metal sheet having one or more amorphous polyester materials, and a second layer having a majority by weight of one or more crystallizable polyester-based polymers and an opacifying amount of titanium dioxide filler. Yet other exemplary films comprise an oxygen-scavenging material and include a first layer adjacent the metal sheet having one or more amorphous polyester materials, and a second layer having a majority by weight of one or more crystallizable polyester-based polymers.

Packaging articles and lamination films

An oxygen-scavenging component and methods for producing the oxygen-scavenging component are provided. The oxygen-scavenging component, which in preferred embodiments is suitable for use in packaging articles, includes an oxygen-scavenging group preferably having at least one double bond. The oxygen-scavenging component may be combined with a polymer and/or an oxidation catalyst to form an oxygen-scavenging composition.

Oxygen-scavenging materials and articles formed therefrom

The present invention provides an oxygen-scavenging composition and articles formed therefrom. The oxygen-scavenging composition preferably includes an oxygen-scavenging polymer having an unsaturated bicyclic group, a based polymer, and an optional oxidation catalyst. The base polymer preferably includes a substituted or unsubstituted addition backbone, which may include heteratoms.

Oxygen scavenging composition and article formed therefrom

An oxygen-scavenging composition is provided that includes an oxygen-scavenging component and a catalyst. The oxygen-scavenging component, which in preferred embodiments is suitable for use in packaging articles, includes two or more oxygen-scavenging groups having different scavenging properties. In one embodiment, one of the oxygen-scavenging groups is an unsaturated bicyclic group.
