A patient interface comprises an opening for receiving a flow of gas from a conduit and an adaptable connector system for connecting at least two different types of conduit with the opening. The adaptable connector is permanently mounted with the patient interface so it cannot be lost and is able to swing into alignment with the opening, thereby providing a different connection end to be compatible with a second or further type of conduit connection end.

Systems and methods for non-invasive ventilation are provided. The systems may include a gas source that provides breathing gases to a patient through one or more of a primary flow path (PFP) and a flushing flow path (FFP). The system may include a control assembly configured to open and restrict gas flow through the PFP. When the PFP is open, a significant portion of the gas flows through the PFP while the remaining gas flows through the FFP. When the PFP is restricted, a significant portion of the gas flows through the FFP. Increased flow through the FFP may have a high velocity (especially relative to the flow through the PFP). Gas delivered through the FFP may be used to flush dead space. One or both flow paths may contribute to inspiratory positive airway pressure (IPAP), expiratory positive airway pressure (EPAP), and/or positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP).

System and method for non-invasive ventilation

A patient interface of a respiratory therapy system is provided, and includes a mask body; a mask seal secured to the mask body and configured to form a seal with the user's face, at least around the user's mouth; the mask body and mask seal being arranged to define an interior breathing chamber of the patient interface; and an inlet to the breathing chamber configured to receive a flow of breathable gases into the breathing chamber. To assist in allowing a user to speak clearly whilst wearing/using the patient interface, a user actuatable speech valve is provided on the patient interface and is operable to selectively occlude and open a speech flow path from the breathing chamber to atmosphere when the user wishes to speak.

Patient interface and a speech valve therefor

A respiratory mask includes a housing and a cushion or seal that seals on a user's face in use. An upper portion of the seal that is disposed on a user's nasal bridge in use can roll toward and/or over the outer surface of the housing to form a rolling bridge feature that adjusts to different nose sizes. As the rolling bridge rolls, an apex of the seal moves away from the user's face to adjust to larger nose sizes. The apex does not move downward and can move upward relative to a location of the apex in a neutral position of the seal.

Respiratory mask system

A pressure regulating or pressure relief device comprises an inlet and an outlet chamber with an outlet. The inlet is in fluid communication with the outlet chamber. A valve seat is located between the inlet and the outlet. A valve member is biased to seal against the valve seat, and displaces from the valve seat by an inlet pressure at the inlet increasing above a pressure threshold to allow a flow of gases from the inlet to the outlet via the outlet chamber. The flow of gases through the outlet causes an outlet pressure in the outlet chamber to act on the valve member together with the inlet pressure to displace the valve member from the valve seat.

Pressure regulating valve

A conduit connector assembly is provided for a respiratory therapy apparatus and configured to connect a patient interface to a gas delivery conduit. The assembly comprises: The conduit and the valve flap selectively provide an inspiratory flow path from the second flow port of the conduit to the first flow port of the conduit; and an expiratory flow path from the first flow port of the conduit to the supplementary flow port via the first valve port. A supplementary gas flow path is provided between the first and/or second flow ports and the supplementary flow port via a supplementary valve port.

There is provided a user interface comprising: a. a mask body; b. a sealing cushion connected to the mask body and configured to seal around a patient's nose and/or mouth; wherein the mask body and sealing cushion together define an interior chamber of the user interface; c. a breathing gas delivery inlet provided in the mask body and configured to receive a breathing gas flow from a gas source; and d. at least one non-sealing nasal prong in the interior chamber. The user interface further comprising a breathing gas flow director configured to split the breathing gas flow into two flow paths such that a portion of the breathing gas flow is delivered along a first flow path from the inlet into the interior chamber to pressurise the interior chamber, and such that a portion of the breathing gas flow is delivered along a second flow path from the inlet through the nasal prong.

Respiratory user interface

An expandable stent comprises a cylindrical wall made up of lattice members connected to each other, at least one first arm and at least one second arm. The first arm comprises: a first non-linear member that is connected at each of its axial ends to a lattice member at respective first junctions; a second non-linear member connected at each axial end to a lattice member; and at least one bridge member extending between the first member and the second member. The second arm comprises: a first non-linear member that is connected at each of its axial ends to a lattice member; a second non-linear member connected at each axial end to a lattice member; and at least one bridge member extending between the first member and the second member. The second member of the first arm is generally U-shaped, extending from its axial ends towards: (i) a first axial end of the stent; and (ii) towards the bridge of the first arm. The second member of the second arm is generally U-shaped, extending from its axial ends towards: (i) a first axial end of the stent; and (ii) towards the bridge of the second arm. The first arm is disposed at a second axial end of the stent, and the second arm is: (i) axially spaced from the first arm towards the first axial end of the stent; and (ii) axially aligned with the first arm. Furthermore, the first member and the second member of each of the first and second arms are connected to lattice members at their axial ends only. Upon radial expansion of the stent from a radially crimped condition under the influence of an external force, tension in: (i) the bridge of the first arm; and (ii) the bridge member of the second arm, causes the second members of both the first and second arms to protrude radially outwards, respectively.
