An electronic system may include a housing and one or more electronic modules. The housing and electronic modules may be configured to allow different numbers and types of electronic modules to be attached to the exterior of the housing.

Cable access platform having external electronic modules

Embodiments of the present disclosure generally pertain to systems and methods for interfacing with a network access device ('NAD'). An NAD in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure comprises an interface extension extending from a housing of the NAD. The interface extension comprises a cable and an enclosure that is sealed by a removable cap. The cable extends from a port on the housing, and the enclosure is positioned on the cable a desired distance from the housing. The removable cap screws onto the enclosure to form a water-tight chamber within the enclosure. The interface extension further comprises an interface connector connected to an end of the cable, and the interface connector is positioned within the chamber when the removable cap is screwed onto the enclosure. When access to the NAD is desired, a technician removes (e.g. unscrews) the removable cap from the enclosure and connects the interface connector to a user interface device. Accordingly, access to the interface of the NAD is facilitated.

System and method for interfacing with network access devices

Signals entering outside plant (OSP) telecommunications enclosures typically do so through weather tight connectors, with one connector mounted to the enclosure and a mating connector connected to a cable bringing the signals to the OSP housing. Such connectors are expensive and require extensive effort to connect the wires of a cable bundle to the connectors. These problems are avoided by allowing cables pre-installed with a cable seal and pre-terminated to cable connectors to pass through an opening in the wall of an OSP housing and seal the cable bundle to the housing to prevent the ingress of environmental elements into the housing through the opening. This permits easier installation and retrofitting of electronic equipment contained within the housing.

Cable seal apparatus and techniques for outside plant telecommunications housings

A housing for an outside plant telecommunication equipment (OSP) which uses modular heat sink assemblies. OSP housings contain electronic circuit boards on which are mounted electrical components that generate heat. Thermal conductors or mesas contact the electrical components to conduct heat from the components to the environment. Rather than create single purpose housings with cast thermal conductors, the improved housing uses heat sink plates which can easily be swapped out to accommodate a variety of electronic circuit boards that might be needed within a general purpose housing. Together with faster turnaround time to create a new design for a housing, lower manufacturing and inventory costs result.

Modular heat sinks for housings for electronic equipment

A modular housing for outside plant telecommunication equipment includes a main enclosure for containing common electronic equipment and an auxiliary enclosure for containing input/output (I/O) circuitry to said common electronic equipment. In this way, different configurations of I/O circuitry can be accommodated only by changing the auxiliary enclosure. The design and fabrication times for making housings is reduced by the smaller size of each enclosure. Upgrades can often be accommodated by only changing one of the main or auxiliary housings.

Modular housing system for outside plant telecommunications equipment

A protector block assembly interfaces a plurality of subscriber lines to communication equipment, such as digital subscriber line (DSL) modems. The assembly has a protector block into which surge protection modules are plugged. Each surge protection module limits the current that may pass from a respective subscriber line to communication equipment protected by the assembly. When plugged into the protector block, the surge protection modules are oriented such that crosstalk interference from the protector block is canceled thereby reducing the amount of crosstalk introduced by the protector block.

Protector block assembly for providing surge protection in telecommunication systems

An apparatus is provided for mounting electrical equipment on a wall. A mounting plate is mounted on the wall. The mounting plate includes a lip defining a linear channel extending across the front of the mounting plate. An equipment enclosure includes a complementary upward extending hanger for engaging the linear channel. A ground strip is attached to the wall plate below the linear channel. The equipment enclosure can be positioned at any point along the length of the linear channel by engaging its complementary hanger therewith and pivoting the enclosure downward until its rear surface engages the mounting plate and a grounding lug thereof engages the ground strip.

System for mounting data communication equipment

A blank, or dummy, face plate element engages top and bottom edges of a cabinet frame, directly behind a front panel card insertion opening that provides access to multiple card slots of an electronic equipment rack. The dummy face plate includes a rearwardly projecting, upper lip, that is located adjacent to a top edge of the face plate, and has a notch immediately adjacent to the rear surface of the face plate. The notch fits within and is captured by an upper edge of the cabinet frame. A rearwardly projecting, generally U-shaped, flexible lower lip is provided adjacent to a lower edge of the face plate and includes a pair of finger grips. The flexible lower lip has a ridge that becomes aligned with the lower edge of the faceplate when the lower lip is flexed upwardly toward the first lip, and a notch adjacent to the ridge that is captured by the cabinet frame. Card-simulating wall portions extend from the face plate alongside the upper and lower lips and are sized and shaped to fit within and slidably engage upper and lower card insertion tracks of an empty card slot, as the dummy face plate is installed.
