An apparatus for punching holes in a casing comprises an elongate casing extending between first and second ends having a plurality of punches adapted to be selectably extended therefrom, the casing having a piston cavity therein, the first end of the casing being in fluidic communication with a pressurized fluid source, a slidable piston contained within the cavity separating the cavity into extension and retraction cavities wherein the extension cavity is operable to pressurize a rear surface of the plurality of punches and the retraction cavity is operable to pressurize a front surface of the plurality of punches and a valve assembly adapted to selectably connect the pressurized fluid source with the extension or retraction cavities so as to extend or retract the punches.

Punch mechanism

An apparatus for use in forming a plug during hydraulic fracturing of a subterranean soil formation includes a top tubular retaining body extending between top and bottom ends and having a frustoconical outer surface extending from the bottom end thereof; and a plurality of slip arms located around the outer surface of the retaining body, each slip arm extending between top and bottom ends and having an inner surface extending from the slip arm top end corresponding to the outer surface of the retaining body and an exterior surface adapted to engage a wellbore. The plurality of slip arms extend from a ring surrounding the retaining body.

Fracing plug

An apparatus for bridging a section of ruptured casing within an oil well comprising a length of bridging pipe extending between first and second ends sized to be located within the casing so as to span the section of ruptured casing, a first seal located around the bridging pipe proximate to the first end thereof, a second seal located around the bridging pipe proximate to the second end thereof, an installation assembly extending through the bridging pipe operably engaged with the first and second ends of the bridging pipe, wherein the installation assembly is operable to extend each of the first and second seals into engagement with the oil well and wherein the installation assembly is further operable to selectably disengage from the bridging pipe.

Downhole casing patch

A well abandonment tool comprising an elongate housing extending between top and bottom ends locatable within a wellbore having a longitudinal pumping cylindrical bore with a pumping piston therein. The apparatus further comprises a wellbore seal located around the housing operable to engage upon the wellbore and to be expanded into contact therewith upon an upward motion of the housing so as to seal an annulus between the housing and the wellbore and a bridge plug engagement connector adapted to secure a bridge plug thereto at a position below the bottom end of the housing. The pumping piston is suspended from a wireline wherein longitudinal movement of the pumping piston discharges a fluid into a bridge plug activation chamber having a movable cylinder adapted to draw the bridge plug engagement connector against the bottom end of the housing so as to expand the bridge plug into engagement with the wellbore.

Wireline well abandonment tool

An apparatus and method for preparing a casing of a subterranean well and injecting a sealing mixture therein. The apparatus comprises an elongate body extending between top and bottom ends connectable to a wireline at the top and having a plurality of nozzles extending therethrough proximate to the bottom. A plurality of scrapers within the body each have a first retracted position and a second radially extended position engageable with the casing. A cavity is operable to contain the sealing mixture and a piston is movable therein so to eject the sealing mixture through the nozzles. The method comprises positioning the body in the well at a location to be sealed, extending the scrapers to engage with the casing, displacing the body so to scrape against the casing and retracting the scrapers. The piston is displaced so to eject the sealing mixture through the nozzles.

Wireline suspendable apparatus for sealing a subterranean well

An apparatus for use in forming a plug during hydraulic fracturing of a subterranean soil formation comprising a top tubular retaining body extending between top and bottom ends and having a frustoconical outer surface extending from the bottom end thereof. The apparatus further includes a plurality of slip arms located around the outer surface of the retaining body, each slip arm extending between top and bottom ends and having an inner surface extending from the top end corresponding to the outer surface of the retaining body and an exterior surface adapted to frictionally engage a wellbore; and a seal element located around the outer surface of the retaining body above the plurality of slip arms adapted to be displaced towards the top end of the retaining body by the plurality of slip arms so as to seal an annulus between the retaining body and the wellbore.

An apparatus for suspending a liner within a bore comprising a central tubular member and first and second sets of radially expandable arms. Each set of arms are expandable by corresponding longitudinally movable cones spaced apart along the tubular member. The apparatus further includes a seal located between the first and second sets of radially expandable arms and a selectably longitudinally compressible sleeve located between the first and second sets of radially expandable arms.

Liner hanger

An sleeve valve for a well assembly includes at least one set of passages extending through a tubular body between the central passage and an exterior of the tubular body and a sleeve slidably located within the central passage of the valve body adapted to selectably sealably cover or uncover the at least one sets of passages. A shifting tool for actuating the sleeve valve is connectable to a tool string and includes a shifting bore with an actuating piston extending from a central bore through the shifting tool and first and second key bores extending radially inwards from the outer surface each having a piston keys located therein. Each of the first and second piston keys is operably connected to the actuating piston so as to be extended from the outer surface when the central bore is supplied with a pressurized fluid.

Sleeve valve

An apparatus and method for sealing against a bore in a soil formation. The apparatus comprises an elongate central member having a resilient tubular seal member extending between first and second ends therearound, a longitudinally moveable plunger surrounding the central member having a first wedge engagable upon the first end of the seal member and a backing ring engaging upon the second end of the seal member. The plunger is axially movable along the central member to compress the seal member between plunger and the packing ring and to press the first end of the seal member in a radially outward direction. The method comprises a locating the apparatus at a desired location and axially moving the plunger towards a corresponding backing ring so as to compress the seal member between plunger and the packing ring and to press the seal member in a radially outward direction.

Axially compressed and radially pressed seal

A method and apparatus for centering and engaging a casing against a wellbore. The apparatus comprises a valve body locatable in-line with the casing the valve body having an outer casing extending between first and second ends and a central passage therethrough, and at least one radially movable body extending therethrough. Each radially movable body has an aperture therethrough so as to permit an exterior of the valve body and the central passage to be in fluidic communication with each other. The apparatus further comprises a cylinder and a piston therein operable connected to the radially movable body in selective fluidic communication with the central passage. The method comprises locating the valve body in line with a wellbore casing, pressurizing the casing with a pressurizing fluid and transmitting the pressurizing fluid the cylinder so as to displace a piston located therein and extend the radially movable body.

Downhole extending ports

A tool for selectively treating a wellbore with fluid that includes a tubing string having a sidewall defining an inner bore, the sidewall comprising a flow area having at least one fluid flow port that permits fluid flow through the sidewall. Fluid is prevented from flowing through the flow area when a closure is in a closed position. When in the open position, fluid flows through the flow area. An axial seal is connected to the closure to selectively close the inner bore against fluid pressure to apply the predetermined opening force to move the closure to the open position. A releasable connector connects the axial seal to the closure and a retrieval tool attachment releases the axial seal from the closure upon application of a predetermined release force by a retrieval tool.

Selective fracturing tool

An apparatus and method for selectably opening a valve body having a central passage and a plurality of apertures therethrough. The apparatus comprises a sleeve slidably located within the central passage of the valve body adapted to selectably cover or uncover the apertures. The apparatus further comprises a shifting tool slidably locatable within the sleeve having at least one sleeve engaging member selectably extendable therefrom in parallel to a central axis thereto engagable upon the sleeve wherein the shifting tool is moveable. The method comprises positioning the shifting tool within the sleeve in a first or second position, extending the sleeve engaging members from the shifting tool in parallel to a central axis of the shifting tool into engagement upon the sleeve, and axially moving the shifting tool and the sleeve to the other of the first or second positions.

A downhole valve for insertion in a production tubing string permits recirculation of fluid pumped into the casing annulus. The valve includes a cylindrical housing defining an opening, an internal mandrel disposed within the housing, defining a central bore and defining an opening, a valve between the housing and the mandrel, wherein said valve opens to allow fluid communication from the mandrel central bore to the annulus space in response to a pressure differential between the mandrel central bore and the annular space, and biasing means for biasing the valve in a closed position. The valve may be set within a completion string by wireline techniques.

Downhole fluid recirculation valve and method for recirculating fluid in a well

An intermittent lift plunger includes at least one seal mandrel, a bottom sub and an upper valve assembly. The valve assembly is closed by a well bottom stop which inserts into the lift plunger and opened by a lubricator stop at the top of the well. The seal mandrel includes a sleeve seal formed from an elastomeric rubber or plastic, which inflates to engage the well bore surface when the valve is closed and a pressure differential exists.
