Methods and devices for separating an implanted object, such as a pacemaker lead, from tissue surrounding such object in a patient's vasculature system. Specifically, the surgical device includes a handle, an elongate inner sheath and a circular cutting blade that extends from the distal end of the sheath upon actuating the handle. The circular cutting blade is configured to engage the tissue surrounding an implanted lead and cut such tissue in a coring fashion as the surgical device translates along the length of the lead, thereby allowing the lead, as well as any tissue remaining attached to the lead, to enter the device's elongate shaft. The surgical device has a barrel cam cylinder in the handle assembly that imparts rotation of the blade and a separate cam mechanism in the tip of outer sheath assembly that imparts and controls the extension and retraction of the blade. The barrel cam cylinder and cam mechanism cooperate to cause the blade to rotate in a first direction and extend from and retract in the outer sheath due to a first actuation of the handle and to rotate in a second direction and extend and retract in the outer sheath due to a second actuation of the handle. The inner sheath and outer sheath are constructed of laser-cut hypotubes, thereby allowing the surgical device, particularly the sheath assembly, to have a smaller profile for navigating smaller sized vasculature.

Medical device for removing an implanted object

Embodiments include a catheter system comprising an elongated housing having a housing channel disposed between a first proximal end and a first distal end. The first distal end includes a ramp, having an inclining proximal section and an apex section, and a nose section. The catheter system further includes a rail wire channel in communication with the ramp but not the nose section and a laser delivery member being at least partially disposed within the housing channel and movable therein. In some embodiments, the catheter system includes a rail wire fixedly attached to and terminating at the first distal end of the elongated housing, wherein the rail wire extends through the rail wire channel, and wherein the laser delivery member is slidably coupled to the rail wire.

A device for occluding a perforation in a blood vessel includes a catheter shaft that has a first lumen and a second lumen. The first lumen is adapted to receive at least one of a guidewire and an implanted cardiac lead, and the second lumen is adapted to receive an inflation fluid. The device further includes an inflatable balloon that is carried by the catheter shaft. The inflatable balloon is adapted to receive the inflation fluid from the second lumen. The inflatable balloon has a working length of about 65 mm to about 80 mm and an inflated diameter of about 20 mm to about 25 mm.

Temporary occlusion balloon devices and methods for preventing blood flow through a vascular perforation

A device for occluding a perforation in a blood vessel includes an expandable member. The expandable member includes a central expandable balloon disposed between a proximal and a distal balloon, wherein the proximal and distal balloons each contain first and second compositions, respectively. The proximal, central and distal balloons have respective stiffnesses, and the central balloon has a third stiffness that is less than the first and second stiffnesses. Upon expansion, the central balloon causes the proximal balloon and the distal balloon to substantially simultaneously release the first and second compositions, thereby allowing the first composition and the second composition to combine in-situ and form, therein, a biocompatible foam to occlude a perforation within the vasculature.
