Aspects presented herein may enhance the accuracy and/or latency of UE positioning based on crowd-sourcing, where a network entity may compute a position estimate of a UE based on neighbor-cell scan data from the UE and one or more reference UEs. In one aspect, a network entity receives a first set of measurements associated with at least one cell from a UE. The network entity performs a position estimation of the UE based on at least one of the first set of measurements associated with the at least one cell, a second set of measurements for each of a set of reference UEs, or a location of each of the set of reference UEs via an ML model, where the UE and the set of reference UEs include at least one common cell.

Similarity learning for crowd-sourced positioning

Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for determining a UE position within a coverage sub-area of a cell based on cell identity data are presented. In some embodiments, the UE detects one more cell identities, including a cell identity of a serving cell and possibly a cell identity of a neighbor cell of the serving cell. The one or more cell identities are included in cell identity data. The cell identity data is used in a look up of a data structure that associates coverage sub-areas of a coverage area of the serving cell with most likely positions within the coverage sub-areas and with cell identities. The result of the look up indicates that the UE is positioned at a most likely position within a coverage sub-area of the serving cell.

Determining a user equipment position within a coverage sub-area of a cell based on cell identity data

A UE includes: at least one sensor configured to provide at least one sensor measurement; and a processor configured to: determine first and second ranges between the UE and a positioning signal source based on first and second positioning signal measurements of first and second positioning signals from the positioning signal source corresponding to first and second times; determine whether a selected range of the first range or the second range is a multipath range based on the first range, the second range, and movement of the UE between the first time and the second time indicated by the at least one sensor measurement; and discount use of the selected range in a positioning technique in response to the selected range being determined to be a multipath range.

Multi-path positioning signal determination

Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for determining a position of a mobile device connected to a network are presented. In various embodiments, the mobile device obtains a synchronization status of the network associated with one or more base stations. If the synchronization status indicates that the network is synchronous, the mobile device determines the position of the mobile device using previously collected crowdsourced time correction data for the synchronous network.

Determining network synchronization status

Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for crowdsourcing the synchronization status of a network are presented. In various embodiments, a server receives a synchronization status of a base station associated with the network. If the synchronization status indicates that the network is synchronous, the server collects information for computing time correction data. The server may send the time correction data to the mobile device for use in determining the position of the mobile device when the mobile device is connected to the synchronous network.

Systems and methods for requesting and providing assistance data for a satellite positioning system are described herein. A method as described herein includes receiving, at a base station over a wireless communication link, a first message from a mobile station, wherein the first message comprises a first field identifying requested assistance data associated with a first Satellite Positioning System (SPS) and a second field identifying a requested format of the requested assistance data, and wherein the requested assistance data are available in a plurality of formats that includes the requested format; and transmitting a second message from the base station to the mobile station over the wireless communication link, wherein the second message includes the requested assistance data in the requested format.

Methods and apparatuses for requesting/providing assistance data associated with various satellite positioning systems in wireless communication networks

Embodiments disclosed aggregate a plurality of crowdsourced measurement sets for antennas received from a plurality of Mobile Stations (MS) with a Base Station Almanac (BSA), based on a measurement location estimate and a measurement location uncertainty estimate associated with each measurement set. A map comprising a plurality of map layers may be obtained, where each map layer associates locations in the BSA with spatially variable Forward Link Calibration (FLC) values for the antenna derived from the updated BSA data, wherein each spatially variable FLC value is associated with a corresponding location in the updated BSA data. Map layers, which may also include multipath map and/or received signal strength layers, may be provided to MS' as location assistance data.

Terrestrial positioning system calibration

A method for assisting a mobile device to perform positioning measurements on positioning signals periodically transmitted by at least some of a plurality of cells in a wireless communication network includes receiving cell information. The cell information is measured or otherwise obtained by the mobile device and includes measurements/data pertaining to one or more of the plurality of cells in the wireless communication network. The method includes generating assistance data to include an assigned frequency channel number for use by the mobile device for performing the positioning measurements based on the received cell information. The assistance data is then sent to the mobile device.

A method performs an update for a first device that consumes information with a known expiration time. The first device operates within a network that accommodates other devices also consuming the information. The method includes setting a time for the first device to refresh the information, the time to refresh being based on a pseudorandom time offset. The method also includes sending a refresh request to a resource for the data during the set time.
