A connection element for cable pulls, having a cable pull sleeve for protecting the cable pull core and for the transmission of movements with forces, an elongated wire for mechanical strength of the cable, a guide tube for guiding the inner cable core, and rubber elements for damping. Elongated wires having bent ends are provided with an injection molding so that there is a contour with U-shaped cross section in the injection molding. A holder engages in the injection molding via an elastic element which simultaneously carries the guide tube and connects it with the injection molding. A flat strip with sliding tube opens into the guide tube.

Swivel insert remote control assembly and method of making same

The assembly is characterized by simultaneously molding the support fitting (,) and the swivel tube (,) of an organic polymeric material to be bonded to the conduit which extends between the support fitting (,) and the swivel tube (,) to allow the swivel tube (,) to oscillate.

Conduit supported swivel tube

A flexible motion transmitting core element (12) is attached a rod (14) and a conduit (16) movably supports the core element (12) and has an end portion to which is attached an end fitting (18). An insert (20) has a neck portion (22) embedded in the end fitting (18) and a spherical portion (24) presenting a ball-shaped pocket and extending from said neck portion (22) through a maximum inner diameter D. A swivel tube (26) has a bore therethrough for movably supporting the rod (14) and has a convex spherical surface (28) slidably supported in the ball-shaped pocket for swiveling movement relative to the end fitting (18). The end fitting (18) embeds only a portion of the spherical portion (24) of the insert (20) for allowing the open end (30) to move radially to snap the convex spherical surface (28) of the swivel tube (26) into the ball-shaped pocket of the insert (20). The insert (20) includes an anchor flange (32) for anchoring the insert (20) in the end fitting (18).

A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) comprises a protective tubular conduit (12) and a flexible motion transmitting core element (14) slidably disposed in the conduit (12) for conveying longitudinal forces. A length adjuster (18) adjusts the longitudinal length of the core element (14). The length adjuster (18) includes a housing (20) having a plurality of transverse teeth (22), and a slider (26) which is longitudinally moveable within a track (24) of the housing (20) between maximum and minimum length adjusted positions. A toothed interlock (36) is transversely movable relative to the slider (26) between a shipping condition in which its teeth (44) are disengaged from the teeth (22) of the housing (20) and an engaged condition in which its teeth (44) engage the teeth (22) of the housing (20). A cantilever tang (48) within the interlock (36) is effectively isolated from the longitudinal forces of the core element (14) for automatically restraining the interlock (36) in the locked condition and selectively releasing the interlock (36) to return to the shipping condition for service or readjustment. The cantilever tang (48) has a cam foot (50) which seats in a stop groove (54) of the slider (26) when the interlock (36) is in the shipping condition and seats behind a rear edge (56) of the slider (26) when the interlock (36) is in the engaged condition. The blade of a screw driver (60) or the like can be used to pry the cantilever tang (48) upwardly so that its cam foot (50) unseats from behind the rear edge (56), thereby permitting service and readjustment without damaging the assembly (10) so that it can be reused.

Cable length adjustment mechanism

A sleeve (16) having a shipping section (24) for loosely holding a collar (22) to allow the sleeve (16) to be adjusted axially along the conduit (14) to the desired support position. Therafter, a clamp, strap, or other support structure, (18) clamps a support section (21) of the sleeve (16) which is sufficiently rigid and strong to prevent collapse inwardly. To prevent further axial movement of the slave (16) along the conduit (14), the collar (16) is forced over a retention shoulder (28) to radially collapse a gripping section (20) of the sleeve as facilitated by longitudinal slits (26) in the sleeve (16).

A motion transmitting remote control assembly for park brake applications includes a conduit slidably supporting a core element and having an end fitting disposed on each end of the conduit. The end fitting includes a seal body formed of a relatively resilient organic polymeric material and a frame disposed about the seal body and formed of a different and relatively more rigid organic polymeric material and having a plurality of snap-in locking fingers to engage behind a surface of a support structure upon advancing the locking fingers through an aperture of the support structure. A connector member is molded from an organic polymeric material in place simultaneously about each of the seal body and frame and about the end of the conduit to provide an interconnection therebetween and to provide a transverse abutment surface spaced longitudinally from bearing surfaces of the snap-in locking fingers for engaging an opposite surface of the support structure.

Park brake cable end fitting

A motion transmitting remote control assembly of the type for transmitting motion in a curved path by a flexible motion transmitting a core element movably supported by a guide such as a conduit. The assembly includes connection means for connecting either or both the conduit to a support structure and the core element to a control element. The connector means includes a snap-in connector for snap-in retention in an opening and is defined by a body for disposition on one side of the opening and a head for insertion through and retention in the opening. The head includes a first leg integral with and extending outwardly from the body to an outward end and a second leg extending generally inwardly from the outward end of the first leg to a distal end. The legs are spaced apart from one another whereby the second leg may be flexed or moved toward the first leg. The head is actually frusto-conical in its outer surface with a semi-spherical top with a slot extending therethrough to define the first and second legs. A shoulder extends about the head whereby there is defined a shoulder on the first leg which faces the body and is in spaced relationship thereto. The distal end of the second leg defines a shoulder spaced from the body the same distance as the shoulder defined on the first leg. Also included is an annular base extending upwardly from the body to the shoulder on the first leg and to a position immediately adjacent the distal end of the second leg.

Motion transmitting remote control assembly

A motion transmitting remote control assembly of the type for transmitting forces along a curved path by a flexible motion transmitting core element movably supported within a conduit. The core element is a stranded cable-like member having a first end extending from a support member secured to the conduit and supported by a support structure. A terminal member is disposed on the end of the core element and is operatively attached to a control member. The support member includes a male spherical end portion and a wiper means comprising a female spherical member is snapped onto the male spherical portion for swivelling movement. The female spherical member is in wiping engagement with the core element for preventing foreign matter on the extended length of the core element from entering into the conduit upon movement of the core element while at the same time allows the axis of the extended length of the core element to move in a conical area.

A motion transmitting remote control assembly of the type for transmitting motion in a curved path by a flexible motion transmitting core element movably supported by a conduit with support fittings at each end of the conduit for snapping into mechanical interlocking engagement in an aperture in a wall. Two embodiments of the support fitting are disclosed, one being manually removable from the aperture while the other is not. The support fittings include flanges for engaging the wall on the inserting side of the aperture with a generally U-shaped body extending from the flanges. Snap-in legs extend from the bottom of the U-shaped body in a cantilevered fashion to define a shoulder adjacent and spaced from the flange means for engaging against the wall at the opposite extremity of the aperture. Pilot posts are defined by the U-shaped body and are disposed laterally at the sides of the snap-in legs to define the ends of the body portion, i.e., the pilot posts define the four corners of the body portion. The removable embodiment includes a channel extending laterally across each of the legs to define the shoulder for engaging the opposite extremity of the aperture and tabs generally aligned with the flanges for disposition on the inserting side of the aperture whereby the tabs may be moved toward one another to remove the fitting from the aperture.
