A respiratory device and system, and in particular a respiratory device that is usable with a plurality of removable electronic function components that that can communicate wirelessly with other devices. In one embodiment, a respiratory device comprises a body, at least a portion of the body defining a volume; a mask communications unit (MCU) at least partially located within the volume; at least one electrical function component in communication with the MCU; and a rechargeable power source at least partially located within the volume, the rechargeable power source providing power to each of the at least one electrical function components.

Wireless communication features for respiratory protection device

A reusable respirator including a mask adapted for covering and conforming to the face around the nose and a mouth of a user, a strap configured to secure the mask to a face of the user, and a filter component. All components of the respirator are capable of being cleaned, disinfected and sterilized at temperatures in excess of 50&#xb0; C. An outer surface of the mask is substantially smooth and wettable for easily disinfecting and is shaped with a pair of outer shield portions for housing particulate air filters. The outer shield portions each include a closeable vent through the outer surface that is adapted to provide a user seal check and direct air flow through the outer surface for filtering by the respective particulate air filter, which is adapted to filter at least 95% of airborne particles.

Respirators

A bayonet connector () suitable for connecting a filter cartridge () or an air supply tube to a respirator (). The bayonet connector () has a tubular male part () and a female part. The male part has a tube () with two or more lugs () formed on it, which engage with engaging ribs () located on an interior sidewall of the female part (), or vice versa. The lugs () and their corresponding engaging ribs () are located at different axial positions.

Control unit assembly

Disclosed herein is an in-mask display or feedback system having a lens coupled to a face blank of the mask, the lens covering a facepiece. The feedback system includes a display apparatus coupled to the facepiece, and disposed within an interior of the mask, the display apparatus being powered by a first power source coupled to a housing of the display apparatus. The feedback system further includes a recording device (e.g., a camera) coupled to the face blank, the recording device operable to communicate data (e.g., wirelessly or wired) with the display apparatus. In some approaches, the recording device is powered by a second power source. In other approaches, the first power source provides power to both the recording device and the display apparatus. In another approach, the display apparatus includes an adjustment aperture formed therethrough to allow adjustment of an eye piece housing a display.

In-mask feedback system

A respiratory mask includes a body having an interior space that defines a plenum between the body and a face of the user when the user is wearing the mask. The respiratory mask also includes a voice transmittal feature in and contiguous with the body that has a voice transmittal membrane that is configured to vibrate in response to sound waves generated by the user such that the voice transmittal membrane transmits the sound waves from the plenum of the body to an ambient environment of the user. The voice transmittal feature thus enhances the intelligibility of a user's speech so that others may more clearly understand what the user is saying. For example, this may increase safety and efficiency in emergency response situations in which the use of a respiratory mask is required.

A respirator includes a frame, a filter layer, and a face seal member. The frame has an outer side and an inner side. The frame defines an opening therethrough. The filter layer is mounted to the outer side of the frame and covers the opening of the frame. The filter layer is configured to prohibit permeation of aerosol, gas, and/or vapor contaminants therethrough. The face seal member is mounted to the inner side of the frame. The face seal member includes a seal contact area configured to engage a facial surface of a wearer. The face seal member incorporates a phase change material therein. The phase change material is configured to provide localized cooling by absorbing heat emitted by the wearer.

A drug delivery device for setting and dispensing a dose of a drug is presented having a support body having a first end defining a first opening and a second end defining a second opening and a centered outer indicator ring. A syringe barrel sealed by a stopper is slidably diposed therein along an axial direction and adapted to have an integrated needle or to be coupled with a needle assembly, wherein the syringe barrel is positioned within the support body. A needle shield is adapted to be coupled to one of the ends of the support body and slidably disposed thereon. An outer body is adapted to be coupled to the other end of the support body and slidably disposed thereon, wherein the outer indicator ring limits the movement of the outer body as well as of the needle shield.

Drug delivery device

A method and system for personal protective equipment, such as a respirator mask, having a nosecup that is removably coupled to the item of personal protective equipment by at least one of an electronics housing and at least one voicemitter. A respirator mask includes a frame including a voicemitter aperture, a voicemitter, and a nosecup removably coupled to the frame by a rotation of the voicemitter by a predetermined amount to removably lock the nosecup to the frame voicemitter aperture. The mask further includes electronics components, which are housed in an annular electronics housing located within the front portion of the mask bodyand in contact with a front portion of the nosecup. The nosecup may further be removably coupled to the mask frame by coupling between the annular electronics housing and the mask frame.

A power supply for an item of personal protective equipment and a method and system for removably coupling the power supply to the item of personal protective equipment, such as a respirator mask. The removable battery cartridge is attached to the mask body in the user's chin area, below the location at which a respirator would be or is attached. Thus, the power supply (battery cartridge) is out of the user's way and is at a location that allow the user to couple or uncouple the cartridge from the mask quickly and easily, even when the user is wearing gloves. In one embodiment, a mask body includes a lower surface and power supply that is removably couplable to the mask body lower surface.

A respiratory mask includes a body configured to cover a nose and a mouth of a user. The body includes a face seal configured to at least partially seal the body to a face of the user. The face seal includes a standard reflex seal that is configured to engage in physical contact with the face to form a first segment of a seal between the body and the face. The face seal also includes a reverse reflex seal that is configured to engage in physical contact with the face to form a second segment of a seal between the body and the face. This configuration allows the mask body to float in place with respect to the face seal and preserves the seal between the mask and the face, even when the user is talking or moving his or her face.
