An onboard electronic device for mounting to a first vehicle. The onboard device may include a capture device configured to capture identifying data associated with a second vehicle. The onboard device may also include a GNSS receiver configured to detect position data based on at least one GNSS signal. The onboard device may further include an onboard controller communicatively coupled to the capture device and the GNSS receiver. The onboard controller may be configured to perform operations including receiving the identifying data from the capture device, receiving the position data from the GNSS receiver, and generating a data report signal based on the identifying data and the position data. The onboard device may further comprise a transmitting antenna configured to transmit the data report signal.

Onboard device and controller for vehicle-to-vehicle detection

Methods and devices for detecting wireless signal absorption using power sensing circuitry. One method includes receiving, by a receiving device having power sensing circuitry, a plurality of wireless signals from a plurality of transmitting devices. The power sensing circuitry may include a local oscillator, a mixer, and a band-pass filter. The method may also include detecting, by the power sensing circuitry, a plurality of power levels for the plurality of wireless signals, where each power level of the plurality of power levels corresponds one of the plurality of wireless signals. The method may further include analyzing, by one or more processors, the plurality of power levels to determine three characteristic power levels of the plurality of power levels. The method may further include calculating, by the one or more processors, an absorption amount based on the three characteristic power levels.

Crowd size estimation based on wireless signal absorption

A method for conducting environmental sampling includes determining to environmentally sample a particular paper transit ticket for a specific residue. Using an automated ticket device, at least one chemical reagent is applied to the particular paper transit ticket. The chemical reagent is selected based on the specific residue. The particular paper transit ticket is collected after the particular paper transit ticket was used as a fare media within a transit system. The at least one chemical reagent is analyzed to determine whether any of the specific residue is present.

Paper transit tickets as a medium for environmental sampling

An autonomous vehicle includes a vehicle body, a drive mechanism configured to propel the vehicle body, a location module, a communication interface in communication with a traffic control system, and a processing unit in communication with the drive mechanism, the location module, and the communication interface. The processing unit is configured to receive, via the communication interface, a route of a prioritized vehicle and determine, in conjunction with the location module, whether a route of the autonomous vehicle intersects the route of the prioritized vehicle. The processing unit is configured to adjust, using the drive mechanism, one or more of a direction or a speed of the autonomous vehicle based on the determination.
