A ground-based source of a jamming signal capable of disrupting a GNSS satellite-based navigation system, for example a GPS jammer, is located with a detector carried by a suitable platform, for example an airborne UAV or missile. The detector, when the platform is at a first location, measures a characteristic of the jamming signal. The platform and its detector are then moved to a chosen second location, from which a further measurement of the jamming signal is made. The measurements made by the detector are then used to determine the location of the source of the jamming signal.

Geo-location of jamming signals

In a CLOS missile guidance system, target and missile tracking data e.g. video image data are acquired on a UAV and transmitted to the missile where they are processed to provide guidance control data to the missile. Alternatively the video image data may be transmitted to a command station where the guidance control data is generated and transmitted to the missile, preferably via the UAV.

Missile guidance system

A jettisonable adaptor for air-carried missiles is located between an aircraft-mounted launcher and a missile. The adaptor may include flight stabilization and retardation functions which are deployable on separation from the launcher. Instead of mounting fixing hooks on the missile (which would incur aerodynamic-drag) these are mounted on the adaptor instead. When stabilization has occurred the adaptor is separated from the missile.

Air-vehicle launcher apparatus

An airborne body (1) towed behind an aircraft (2) is manoeuvrable around the flight path of the aircraft in order to intercept or collide with an incoming threat and thus protect the aircraft either by directly damaging the threat or causing it to fuze prematurely. Means for steering the body may take the form of control lines (3a, 3b, 3c) operated by winches (8).
