Inventive methods and apparatus for providing an open wall wash luminaire designed to allow a small amount of light to go behind the luminaire kick reflector, resulting in the kick reflector being less noticeable by an occupant of the room when light is being provided by the luminaire.

An adjustable recessed trim for a lighting fixture includes an enclosure with a light output opening and a light source opening provided upward from the light output opening. An adjustable cover piece having a cover piece light source opening is provided over the enclosure in registration with the enclosure light source opening and is adjustable between at least a first position and a second position.

The present invention relates to a junction box for a use with a recessed luminaire fixture frame wherein the junction box may be accessed from two opposed sides, eliminating the need to move the fixture to access and inspect the junction box.

The instant invention provides an adjustable mechanism for a fixture having a fixture frame, a plurality of hanger bars, and an aperture ring. An adjustment assembly slidably connects the fixture frame, the plurality of hanger bars, and the aperture ring. A finishing section of a recessed wall wash light fixture has a heat conducting side wall. The inner surface of the side wall has a reflective finish. A lamp is non-centrally aligned within the finishing section. The reflective sides cooperate with the off axis location of the lamp to operate as a kick reflector to kick a portion of the light emitted outward from the fixture at high angles to illuminate a nearby wall close to the ceiling line. The finishing section functions as a lamp support, heat shield and kick reflector reducing the number of parts and complexity of assembly typical of wall wash light fixtures. The finishing section is mounted substantially within a rough-in section housing. An aperture cone section, lens, hinge and bias mechanism, and rotatable collar improve performance and functionality of the fixture.

A unitary reflector trim to shield a viewer's line of sight past a lamp into a lighting fixture, eliminating the material and assembly expense of additional components. Included in the reflector trim are a cylindrical socket cup receiving neck which transitions into a waist section having a smaller diameter than the neck. A reflector section transitions from the waist section. A trim ring extends from the base of the reflector section to cover the edges of a ceiling opening. All of the elements are integral with each other, forming a single piece reflector trim.

A recessed fixture housing in which the major components are designed with taper fits to allow the components to be pressed together in assembly to create an air-seal engagement construction. The fixture housing also provides a junction box accessible from either the room side or the attic side of a fixture, while maintaining a sealed fixture housing. Further, a recessed fixture frame for use with a housing of maximal size to be installed between building structural members with mounting bars having protruding tabs. Mounting bar brackets are inset from each frame side an amount sufficient to accommodate the tabs between the building structural member and the bracket.

A method, system and apparatus for supporting a light fixture in an aperture formed in a planar member is disclosed. An aperture is first cut in the planar member at the point where the lighting fixture is to be installed and a light fixture support structure having at least two mounting straps positioned about the perimeter of the light fixture support structure for retaining the light fixture support structure in position in the aperture formed in the planar member is positioned in the aperture by an installer. The light fixture support structure mounting straps are then positioned contiguous with the inner surface of the planar member and are manipulated such that the light fixture support structure is maintained in position in the aperture. The light fixture support structure includes a perimeter member having a wall portion and a lip portion and having at least two slots formed at the junction of the wall and the lip and at least two mounting straps positioned in the at least two slots for retaining the light fixture support structure in position in the aperture formed in the planar member. The mounting strap including a hook member at one end and a v shaped two leg member at the other end with each of the legs having a flange member for engaging the surface of the planar member. Methods of installing remodeler light fixtures in a planar member are also disclosed.
