Backframe for self-contained breathing apparatus

A respiratory inlet having a mask end and a fitting end is provided. The respiratory inlet also includes a cavity and an exterior mating surface. The exterior mating surface is disposed proximate the fitting end, and is configured to matingly accept a first type of air supply fitting. The first type of air supply fitting is configured as a female fitting, and the respiratory inlet is configured to operate in a first mode when the female fitting is mated to the exterior mating surface. The cavity includes an opening oriented toward the fitting end, and an interior mating surface configured to matingly accept a second type of air supply fitting. The second type of air supply fitting is configured as a male fitting, and the respiratory inlet is configured to operate in a second mode when the male fitting is mated to the interior mating surface.

Respirator filter interface

A configurable exhale system for a respirator has a first valve assembly disposed within a chamber which is configured to prevent air from flowing through the first valve assembly when an air pressure differential between an upstream side and a downstream side of the first valve assembly is below a first opening pressure. A second valve assembly is disposed within the chamber in fluid communication with the first valve assembly which is configured to prevent air from flowing through the second valve assembly when an air pressure differential between an upstream side and a downstream side of the second valve assembly is below a second opening pressure, which is greater than the first opening pressure. A bypass opening is positioned adjacent the second valve assembly configured to enable air to bypass the second valve assembly with a bypass member positioned adjacent to the bypass opening. The bypass member is movable between two positions with the bypass member blocking the bypass opening in a first position and the bypass member does not block the bypass opening in a second position.

Switchable exhale filter system

An exhale valve assembly includes a housing, a valve carrier body, a primary valve assembly, a plunger, a lock assembly, and an air pressure activated actuator assembly. The valve carrier body is disposed the housing and has a passageway. The primary valve assembly is mounted to the valve carrier body. A first air flow path passes through the passageway and a second air flow path passes through the primary valve assembly. The plunger is configured to permit a flow through the first air flow path when the plunger is in a first position and to direct a flow through the second air flow path when the plunger is in a second position. The lock assembly is configured to secure the plunger in the first position. The air pressure activated actuator assembly is configured to release the lock responsive to a pressure change within the cavity of the housing.

Automatic switchable exhale cartridge

A mounting assembly for a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) includes a back plate defining a plurality of apertures therethrough arranged in first and second columns. The apertures in the columns are sized and spaced to receive corresponding first and second mounting straps woven therethrough that are configured to extend around webbing straps of a carrying jacket to fasten the back plate to the carrying jacket. The back plate includes a first press stud associated with the first column and a second press stud associated with the second column, which are configured to engage ends of the respective first and second mounting straps to releasably secure the mounting straps to the back plate. A tank securing strap on the back plate releasably fastens a supply tank to the back plate. A valve retaining mount on the back plate releasably secures an air supply valve for engagement with the supply tank.

Carrying plate for breathing apparatus

A mounting assembly for a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) includes a back plate defining a plurality of apertures therein that are arranged in two columns extending down opposing side edges of the back plate. The apertures are sized and spaced to receive mounting straps that are configured to interface with webbing straps of a carrying jacket to fasten the back plate to the jacket. The mounting assembly also includes a tank securing strap with a quick release mechanism that is fastened to the back plate. The tank securing strap is configured to engage a supply tank to releasably fasten the tank to the back plate. The mounting assembly further includes a valve retaining mount disposed on the plate. The valve retaining mount is configured to releasably secure an air supply valve to the back plate for engagement with the supply tank.
