A rekeyable lock cylinder includes a plug assembly and a lock cylinder. The plug assembly includes a plug body, a plurality of key followers, a plurality of racks, and a rack carrier that carriers the plurality of racks. The rack carrier is moveable relative to the plug body between a proximal end and a distal end. A cam follower extends outwardly from the rack carrier. The lock cylinder body includes a cylinder wall with the plug assembly rotatably disposed therein, and has a cam track configured on the cylinder wall at an interior surface to guide the cam follower of the plug assembly. The cam track has a ramp portion configured to longitudinally displace the cam follower and the rack carrier as the plug assembly is rotated relative to the lock cylinder body to facilitate selective disengagement of the plurality of racks from the plurality of key followers.

Tool-less rekeyable lock cylinder

A reset cradle with integral reset tool assembly, that automatically positions the lock cylinder, the reset tool assembly, and all associated components, and choreographs the operations that need to be performed in the right sequential order. The reset cradle generally comprises a two-section housing including a base section with centrally-protruding tubular post into which the lock cylinder may be inserted, and a separate hub section rotatably seated on the base. Inside the housing, a cam is engaged against the post and is rotatable thereabout along with relative rotation of the two-section housing. A reset member is also operative inside the housing, and is engaged by rotation of the cam for axial displacement into the lock cylinder. Similarly, a detent pin is slidably seated in the post and is engaged by the cam for axial displacement into the lock cylinder. Relative rotation of the two-part housing resets the lock cylinder via the reset member and detent pin, and allows the lock cylinder to be placed in a learn mode for rekeying without a valid key.

Reset cradle for a quick rekey cylinder

An interconnected chassis includes a mounting plate including a spring engaging tab. A cover plate includes a recessed spring retention wall. A lower cam has a lower pivot axis. An upper cam has an upper pivot axis. A slide plate is positioned between the mounting plate and the cover plate, the slide plate having a spring retention slot and a spring support ledge. The slide plate includes a first end having a pivot feature and a second end having a lower cam engagement member for engaging the lower cam. A spring is positioned in the spring retention slot of the slide plate and in the recessed spring retention wall of the cover plate, and between the spring engaging tab of the mounting plate and the spring support ledge of the slide plate. A toggle is pivotably coupled to the slide plate by the pivot feature, the toggle having a head portion positioned to engage the upper cam.

Chassis for a lock set

A handle set includes a handle assembly having an operator, a rose insert, and a shank having a bore. The rose insert has a central opening and a post. The shank is affixed to the operator and rotatably received in the central opening. A rotational stop is coupled to the rose insert. A spindle guide is slidably received in the bore and is slidable between a locked position and an unlocked position. A kick-off plate having a retention slot is coupled to the spindle guide. A centralizing cup having a single multi-function tang and a lock retention feature is mounted to the shank. The multi-function tang is configured for rotation along a rotational path, the rotation being limited by the rotational stop. The lock retention feature is positioned to engage the retention slot when the spindle guide is in the locked position to thereby retain it in the locked position.
