A functional polymeric cutting edge structure and methods for the manufacturing of cutting edge structures comprised of polymeric materials are provided. The cutting edge structures may be produced on a substrate having a blade body or blade support type. The polymeric material is produced by curing a precursor material by electromagnetic radiation wherein a wavelength of said radiation is about double a wavelength required to cure the precursor material. A razor blade for use in a razor cartridge or a blade box may be formed using the present invention.

Polymeric cutting edge structures and method of manufacturing polymeric cutting edge structures

A functional polymeric cutting edge structure and methods for the manufacturing of cutting edge structures comprised of polymeric materials are provided. The cutting edge structures may be produced on a substrate having a blade body or blade support type. The polymeric material is produced by curing a precursor material activated by electromagnetic radiation wherein a wavelength of said radiation is about double a wavelength required to activate the precursor material. A razor blade for use in a razor cartridge or a blade box may be formed using the present invention.

Methods are provided for the manufacture of razor blades from silicon material. In some implementations, the method includes aligning a mono-crystalline silicon wafer comprising a {100} surface at an angle where {111} planes intersect the {100} surface parallel and perpendicular to the wafer; etching the mono-crystalline silicon wafer to expose an {111} plane and a second plane to provide a blade edge having between about a 20 degree included blade angle and about a 35 degree included blade angle; applying a hard coating on the blade edge; providing a radius of curvature of the blade edge between about 20 nanometers and about 100 nanometers after deposition of the hard coating; applying a soft coating on the blade edge; and removing the razor blade from the mono-crystalline silicon wafer.

Methods of manufacturing silicon blades for shaving razors

The invention features a razor for dispensing a fluid during shaving. The razor includes a razor cartridge that is engageable to a handle. The razor cartridge has a housing, a cartridge connecting structure attached to the housing; at least one blade positioned in the housing; and an aperture that extends from the rear surface to the front surface of the housing. The handle has a cavity for housing a fluid; a manually-actuated pump located along the length of the handle, and a fluid dispensing member having a channel in fluid communication with the pump and having an opening at a terminal end. The fluid dispensing member projects outwardly from the proximal end of the handle such that the terminal end extends to or adjacent to the aperture in the housing. Actuation of the pump displaces fluid from the cavity to or adjacent to the front surface of the housing.

Manually actuable liquid dispensing razor

The invention features a razor for dispensing a fluid during shaving. The razor includes a handle, a razor cartridge, and a fluid dispensing member joined to the cartridge. The handle includes a cavity for housing a fluid and a manually-actuated pump to displace the fluid from the cavity through a supply channel to an opening at the proximal end of the handle. The razor cartridge includes a cartridge connecting structure attached to the housing, at least one blade positioned in the housing, and an aperture that extends from the rear surface to the front surface of the housing. The fluid dispensing member has a dispensing channel with an opening at a supply end and an opening at a dispensing end. The supply end is configured to engage the opening in the supply channel. The dispensing end projects outwardly and extends to or adjacent to the aperture in the housing.

The invention relates to safety razors having blade units carried on a handle, an electrical arrangement including an electrically operated vibration device, and a control device for actuating the vibration device when the blade unit is moved into contact with or into close proximity to the skin of a person holding the razor, a battery accommodated in the handle, a switch for connecting the electrical arrangement to the battery, and optionally, a light emitting diode for illuminating a section of handle neck to indicate that the electrical arrangement is connected to the battery and ready to actuate the vibration device.

A retractable marking instrument has a seal arrangement for sealing the marking tip (3) when it is retracted within the barrel. The seal arrangement comprises a sealing element (6) shaped as a torus which rolls between the barrel (1) of the instrument and a refill unit (2) carrying the marking tip (3).

A safety razor system includes a body member for attachment to a razor handle having a shell structure and an elongated blade mounted on the shell structure of the body member. The blade is arcuate along its lengthwise directions and has a skin contacting surface with a plurality of apertures formed therein, the perimeter of each aperture serving as a cutting edge. The blade is mounted on the body with the skin contacting surface entirely offset from the body member and is attached to a handle for pivotal movement in the widthwise direction about a pivot center offset from the skin contacting surface in the direction of contact.

An interproximal brush for carrying on the person has an elongated one piece body member of elastomeric material forming a planar surface disposed between two leg members from which a substantially rigid boss extends for supporting a brush member. A plurality of hinges are formed in the body member at either side of the boss and the oppositely extending leg members are folded one adjacent the other and attached for slidable movement relative to one another. The planar surface is disposed transverse to the direction of relative movement of the leg members and rotates to move the brush from a position in alignment with the direction of movement of the leg members to a position forming an angle with the direction of movement of the leg members, when the leg members are moved relative to one another. The one piece body member may also be made foldable in the opposite direction to encase the brush within the leg members, or a bumper may be provided for supporting the planar surface when the brush is so rotated.

A dither arrangement or dither spring comprises an outer portion 1 for being secured to a fixed structure, an inner mounting stub 9 for being attached to a sensor such as a laser gyro and a series of three counter-balanced inertias 10 which together have the same inertia as the sensor. The inertias 10 are connected by spoke 6 to flexible pivots 4, to which the mounting stub 9 is also connected by spokes 5.
