In a network () with a plurality of cells (), there may be interference couplings among the cells (). This may be particularly true for heterogeneous networks (). For radio resource scheduling in such network (), a semi-decentralized scheduling is proposed in which radio resource scheduling issue is reformulated as load scheduling issue. In the proposed semi-decentralized scheduling, portions of the total load or available headroom are centrally allocated to each local node () subject to the stability of the network (). At each local node (), radio resources are granted to users () of that local node () subject to the portion of the load or headroom allocated to that local node ().

Semi-decentralized scheduling in a wireless network

An exemplary scheduling system and method implemented in a base station comprises a modeling unit, a prediction unit, and a scheduling unit incorporated into a control loop. The modeling unit determines a modeled air-interface parameter by modeling, e.g., a load or interference parameter, associated with the mobile terminals during a current transmission interval based on an earlier set of scheduling grants generated for the mobile terminals. The prediction unit determines a predicted error for a subsequent transmission interval based on the modeled parameter and a measured parameter reported by the mobile terminals during the current transmission interval. The scheduling unit generates a new set of scheduling grants for the mobile terminals for the subsequent transmission interval based on the predicted error.

Closed control loop for uplink scheduling

In methods and devices for scheduling uplink transmission in a cellular radio system for a number of user equipments transmitting data over an air-interface each user equipment is associated with an individual uplink load factor. Further a cost function is formed based on the load factor for each user equipment that is to be scheduled for uplink transmission, wherein the cost function is approximated by a quadratic function. The throughput of all scheduled user equipments is maximized using a convex optimization of the sum of the individual cost functions, and the grant for uplink transmission is scheduled in accordance with the optimized cost functions.

Methods and devices for scheduling uplink transmission in a cellular radio system

A method may be provided to operate a node of a radio access network communicating with a wireless terminal. The wireless terminal may be configured to provide a transmit buffer for data to be transmitted to the node during transmission time intervals, to transmit packets of the data from the transmit buffer to the node during respective transmission time intervals, and to provide buffer indicator bits with respective packets of the data during the respective transmission time intervals. The method may include: receiving a packet including data and a buffer indicator bit from the wireless terminal during a respective transmission time interval; and providing an estimate of a quantity of data in the transmit buffer at the wireless terminal responsive to a status of the buffer indicator bit. Methods providing buffer estimation and related network nodes and wireless terminals

The invention relates to a method in a radio communications network for controlling a transmission power of a user equipment () transmitting data to a radio base station () in the radio communications network. The radio base station () retrieves a target signal to interference ratio value and measures a signal to interference ratio of a signal transmitted with a current transmission power from the user equipment (). The radio base station () then determines a user equipment capability of power control of the user equipment (). Furthermore, the radio base station () computes a power control command based on the measured signal to interference ratio, the retrieved target signal to interference ratio, and the user equipment capability of power control, which power control command indicates a power control adjustment step of the user equipment (). The radio base station () then transmits the power control command to the user equipment (). The user equipment () calculates a transmission power step based on said received power control command and adjusts the transmission power by applying the calculated transmission power step to the current transmission power.

Method and arrangement for scheduling control in a telecommunication system

For power control in a wireless communication system, a node comprises means for obtaining power of signals received over a wireless signal channel and a power control signal unit. The power control signal unit () provides power control signals intended for the power control over the channel. A warper unit warps the power control signals by a first filter. A quantizer quantizes the warped power control signals, which are transferred to another node in the wireless communication system. The receiving node comprises a dewarper, dewarping the received signals by a second filter. The power control of the wireless signal channel is performed based on the dewarped power control signal. The filters are linear filters arranged for reducing an influence of quantization. The second filter is an inverse filter with respect to the first filter. The filters are preferably adapted by adaptors.
