An audio system with an audio playback device that is configured to operatively connect to a digital audio source for playback of content from the digital audio source and a software program configured to run on a separate computer, wherein the software program provides a user interface configured to present to a first authorized user a selection of whether the audio playback device will be public and thus available to other authorized users or private and thus not available to other authorized users. In response to the first authorized user making a selection of whether the audio playback device will be public or private, an audio playback device access control is provided, wherein the access control is configured such that if the audio playback device is public, other authorized users are able to access and control the public audio playback device and if the audio playback device is private, other authorized users are not able to control the private audio playback device.

Audio system

A wireless audio device tethering system is provided for including an intermediary device having at least one wireless transceiver that is configured to establish a first wireless connection with a first wireless audio device and a second wireless connection with a second wireless audio device. The intermediary device is also configured to receive a unique identifier from the second wireless audio device and to transmit the unique identifier to the first wireless audio device in order to initiate wireless tethering between the first and second wireless audio device. Once tethering has been initiated, wireless audio signals can be streamed to the first wireless audio device and then re-streamed to the second wireless audio device.

A user interface for a communication device having a wireless interface for connection to associated devices includes a graphical display screen integrated into the communication device, a user input device indicating selection and movement of graphical objects displayed on the graphical display screen, and a processor programmed to cause the graphical display screen to display a first arc representing the communication device itself, a first circle surrounding a visual representation of an audio output device associated with the communication device, and a connector between the first arc and the first circle. The connector includes two curved lines each beginning at the first arc and ending at the first circle, the lines curved towards each other between the first arc and the first circle.
