A pacemaker fixation system, a leadless pacemaker system and a method of use thereof are disclosed. The leadless pacemaker system includes: a pacemaker fixation system including a leadless pacemaker and an elastic unfoldable element attached thereto, wherein in an unfolded configuration of the elastic unfoldable element, it fixes the leadless pacemaker at a target location in a blood vessel in communication with the heart; a delivery system for delivering the pacemaker fixation system to the target location; and a guide for guiding the delivery system into the blood vessel. According to the present invention, atrial pacing can be achieved by the leadless pacemaker through fixing the leadless pacemaker in the blood vessel in communication with the heart with the elastic unfoldable element.

Pace-making fixing system, lead-free pacemaker system, and use method therefor

A bipolar cardiac lead () is provided and includes a connector pin (), a connector insulator (), and a ring connector (). The connector pin () has a proximal end and a distal end, and the proximal end is configured to engage an electrical stimulation device. The connector insulator () is coupled to the distal end of the connector pin () and may define a bore () configured for receiving a portion of the connector pin (). The connector insulator () provides electrical insulation between the connector pin () and the ring connector (). The ring connector () is coupled to the connector insulator () with a snap-fit connection and may be disposed around a portion of the connector insulator (). The bipolar cardiac lead () may be an active or a passive lead.

Cardiac electrical lead

An active bipolar cardiac electrical lead includes a distal electrode (), an intermediate connection mount (), a ring electrode (), and a tip housing (). The intermediate connection mount () defines a proximal fitting () and a distal fitting (). The ring electrode () has an exposed section () that sleeves over and engages the proximal fitting () of the intermediate connection mount () with a snap-fit connection. The intermediate connection mount () may connect the ring electrode () to the tip housing () and provide electrical insulation between the ring electrode () and the distal electrode ().

Active cardiac electrical lead

A proximal end of an implantable lead may include a connector insulator having a center bore, a unitary connector pin fixedly disposed in the center bore of the connector insulator where the unitary connector pin includes a socket end configured for insertion into an electrical stimulation device and a conductor end electrically crimped to the first conductor, and a unitary ring connector having a band portion concentrically arranged around and insulated from the conductor end of the unitary connector pin and a crimp portion electrically crimped to the second conductor.

Implantable passive medical lead

An active bipolar cardiac electrical is assembled by coupling an inner conductor coil to a connector pin to form an inner conductor assembly. The inner conductor assembly is threaded through a connector insulator. An insulating tubing is placed over the inner coil. A proximal end of the insulating tubing is sleeved over the distal extension of the connector insulator. An outer conductor coil is coupled to a ring connector to form an outer conductor assembly. The inner conductor assembly is threaded through the outer conductor assembly. The ring connector is sleeved on the distal extension of the connector insulator and over the insulator tubing. A proximal seal is sleeved over a socket end of the connector pin. The proximal seal is seated on the proximal extension of the connector insulator.

Assembly of active cardiac electrical lead

A passive cardiac electrical lead is assembled by coupling an inner conductor coil to a connector pin to form an inner conductor assembly. The inner conductor assembly is threaded through a connector insulator. An insulator tubing is placed over the inner coil. A proximal end of the insulator tubing is sleeved over the distal extension of the connector insulator. An outer conductor coil is coupled to a ring connector to form an outer conductor assembly. The inner conductor assembly is threaded through the outer conductor assembly. The ring connector is sleeved on the distal extension of the connector insulator and over the insulator tubing. A proximal seal is sleeved over a socket end of the connector pin. A portion of the proximal seal is seated on the proximal extension of the connector insulator.

Assembly of passive cardiac electrical lead

An active bipolar cardiac electrical lead includes a helical anchor electrode, a tip electrode pin, an intermediate connection mount, a ring electrode, and a tip housing. The tip electrode pin engages an inner conductor coil at a proximal end and engages a proximal end of the helical anchor electrode at a distal end. The intermediate connection mount defines an axial lumen therethrough, a proximal fitting, a cylindrical flange, and a distal fitting. The ring electrode has an exposed section that sleeves over and connects with the proximal fitting of the intermediate connection mount and has a proximal sleeve that engages with an outer conductor coil and an outer sheath of the lead. The tip housing defines an axial bore that houses the helical anchor electrode and a distal portion of the tip electrode pin.

Bipolar active cardiac electrical lead

A proximal end of an implantable lead may include a unitary connector pin having a socket end, a conductor end, and a necked-down portion arranged therebetween, where the conductor end includes a crimp cavity with an inner surface and a proximal end of the conductor is arranged in the crimp cavity, and a pin sleeve sleevably engaging the proximal end of the conductor and crimping the proximal end of the conductor against the inner surface, the proximal end may also include a unitary ring connector having a band portion, a notch portion, and a crimp portion where the crimp portion includes a crimp cavity with an inner surface and a proximal end of the conductor is arranged in the crimp cavity, and a ring sleeve sleevably engaging the proximal end of the conductor and crimping the proximal end of the conductor against the inner surface creating a crimp connection.

Implantable medical lead

A proximal end of an implantable lead may include a connector insulator having a center bore, a unitary connector pin rotatably disposed in the center bore of the connector insulator where the unitary connector pin includes a socket end configured for insertion into an electrical stimulation device and a conductor end electrically crimped to the first conductor, and a unitary ring connector having a band portion concentrically arranged around and insulated from the conductor end of the unitary connector pin and a crimp portion electrically crimped to the second conductor.

Implantable active medical lead

A tool-less connector with multiple contacts and a compact design is provided. Therefore, a connector that is normally tunneled through body tissue will now require only a minimally invasive subcutaneous tunnel, which should reduce tissue healing time, patient discomfort, and risk of infection. In addition, providing additional contacts allows enhanced stimulation protocols. One embodiment of the present invention provides a connector pin containing multiple in-line contacts. Each &ldquo;line&rdquo; consists of a row of independent contacts arranged in a linear array running along the long axis of the pin. In other embodiments of the invention, the mating receptacle of the connector allows for multiple contacts while minimizing the space required for the increased number of contacts. Additional embodiments provide features that, for instance, prevent the contacts on the connector pin to touch the contacts in the receptacle until all contacts are appropriately aligned.

Multiple in-line contact connector

A straight-forward and tool-less mechanism is provided for securing lead wires to an implantable neurostimulator, or similar medical device. In one embodiment, a clip lock mechanism is pivotally connected to the enclosure of the medical device, which enclosure also includes at least one receptacle with contacts to the components within the device. The proximal end of the lead wires terminate in a connector, including at least one plug and at least one pin with contacts corresponding to the electrodes or other devices along the distal end of the lead. The pin is inserted into the receptacle, thus completing the connection between the pin and receptacle contacts, and the clip is pivoted over the plug. The plug preferably has depressions that provide a clear visual and tactual indication of the position of the properly placed clip.
