A process for increasing throughput in a spent sulfuric acid dissociation furnace by injecting dewatered biosolids pre-conditioned to enhance combustion into the furnace while enriching the oxygen content of the air used in the process.

This invention relates to an improved process for the coincineration of municipal solid waste and municipal sewage sludge by dewatering the sludge, breaking it up into sufficiently small particles and employing oxygen enrichment of the combustion process. These small particles of sludge are introduced into the combustion zone above the grate in the combustion zone but at a distance above the grate no higher than that of the point of introduction of secondary air. This is accomplished without undesired excursions of flue gas flow rate and temperature.

Process for combusting dewatered sludge waste in a municipal solid waste

Enhanced oil recovery from a crude oil reservoir is promoted following primary oil production, by subjecting the reservoir to water flooding, discontinuing the water flooding, preferably when the remaining oil is at an OIP level above 0.10, and then subjecting the reservoir to fireflooding with gas having an O.sub.2 content of at least 50%, preferably above 85%.
