The functions of a mainframe environment are expanded by leveraging the functions of an open environment. A second storage of an open system externally connected to a first storage of a mainframe system comprises a second main volume of an open environment generated in association with a main logical device of the second storage, and a second sub volume of an open environment generated in association with a sub logical device of the second storage; the first storage comprises a first main volume of a mainframe environment generated in association with the main logical device of the second storage, and a first sub volume of a mainframe environment generated in association with the sub logical device of the second storage; when the first storage receives a data processing request from a host, the first storage reflects the processing request in the second storage and completes the processing; and when the first storage receives an execution request of a prescribed function, the first storage causes the second storage to execute the function.

Storage system and data processing method

The data duplication system comprises a first storage device having a first data protection area for storing backup images of multiple generations of a first volume for data read/write by an external device. The first data protection area is inaccessible to the external device. A second storage device coupled to the first storage device. The first storage device creates a second volume for storing a backup image of a particular generation of the plurality of generations of backup images stored in the first data protection area. The second storage device creates a third volume for storing the copy data, and a virtual volume that is mapped to the second volume of the first storage device. The second storage stores the backup data of a specific generation stored in the second volume in the third volume via the virtual volume by forming a pair that copies the data in the virtual volume and the third volume.

Data duplication system and backup method

Provided is a backup system including a storage system and a backup server, in which the backup server includes a ledger for managing a copy number and a backup acquisition date and time for each backup image, a data volume that stores data accessed by a business server, a backup image volume that stores a plurality of backup images at different time points of the data volume, an access volume having a volume ID for accessing the backup image from the backup server, and a data protection area including at least one volume having an internal volume ID instead of the volume ID for accessing from the backup server are configured in the storage system, and the backup image stored in the data protection area and the access volume are associated, and the backup image in the data protection area is provided to the backup server.

A security system includes a backup acquisition unit configured to store given information indicating states of backup data together with backup images generated from the backup data for each backup generation; and a determination unit configured to generate, when a predetermined timing comes, determination information for determining whether there is an abnormality in the stored backup data, based on a predetermined determination rule and the given information for each backup generation, and to output the generated determination information.

Security system, storage medium storing computer program, and data diagnostic method

Backup data equivalent to the maximum number of generations to be held can be secured even when backup data is locked. When locking of prohibiting overwrite of one or more storage areas is performed, a backup server prepares a new backup management table and uses the backup management table and an archive management table, which is the past backup management table, to store the backup data equivalent to the maximum number of generations to be held into a storage system.
