A three-dimensional display apparatus comprises a display panel (display element) and a parallax barrier (optical element). The display panel displays a left-eye image and a right-eye image respectively in first subpixels and second subpixels. The parallax barrier transmits at least part of the left-eye image toward the left eye, and at least part of the right-eye image toward the right eye. A first certain number of the first subpixels and of the second subpixels are each successively arranged in each column. A region in which the first subpixels are arranged and a region in which the second subpixels are arranged are displaced from each other by a second certain number between two adjacent columns. A display includes: a display section that includes first pixels to nth pixels and displays perspective images assigned to the first to nth pixels; and a display control section that partitions the display section into sub-regions and performs display control on pixels in each of the sub-regions, independently, to vary a correspondence relationship between the first to nth pixels and the perspective images for each of the sub-regions. The display control section assigns a first perspective image to two pixels of the first pixel to the nth pixel and assigns a second perspective image to other two pixels of the first pixel to the nth pixel, in each of the sub-regions. A three-dimensional sense adjusting unit displays three-dimensional images to a user. If a displayed reaches a limit of parallax, the user responds to the three-dimensional sense adjusting unit. According to acquired appropriate parallax information, a parallax control unit generates parallax images to realize the appropriate parallax in the subsequent stereo display. The control of parallaxes is realized by optimally setting camera parameters by going back to three-dimensional data. Functions to realize the appropriate parallax are made into and presented by a library.

Method and apparatus for processing three-dimensional images

A display device includes: an image display unit having a plurality of pixels each including a plurality of sub-pixels with colors different from one another, the sub-pixels displaying an image for a right eye and an image for a left eye; and a light shielding unit configured to cause parallax to be generated between the two eyes.
