A method for operating a driver information system in an ego-vehicle is disclosed. First environment data are detected in an environment of the ego-vehicle at a first time. At least one further road user is identified based on the detected first environment data. A driver information display is provided, wherein the driver information display comprises a first graphic road user object which is assigned to the further road user. Second environment data are recorded in the environment of the ego-vehicle at a second, later time. Based on the detected second environment data, the further road user is identified again, and a second graphic road user object is formed which replaces the first graphic road user object in the driver information display. In addition, the second graphic road user object has a higher specificity than the first graphic road user object.

A presence of an input means, such as a finger of the user, is detected in a predefined first area in front of a button displayed on the control unit. In response to the detection a timer is started having a predetermined time segment. When the timer elapses, a secondary function in the control unit is executed relative to the button in which the input means is detected.

User interface and method for assisting a user in the operation of an operator control unit

User interface and process to support a user in the operation of a touch-sensitive control unit. A presence of a means of input, such as a finger of the user, is detected in a predefined first area relative to the control unit. In response to the detection, an acknowledgement may be produced via a predefined first audio output including a first sound sign, which is associated in a context-specific manner with a button displayed on the control unit.

User interface and method for assisting a user with the operation of an operating unit

Systems, apparatuses and methods for assisting a user in the operation of a touch-sensitive operator control unit, where a presence of input means, such as a user's finger, is detected in a predefined first area in front of the operator control unit, and, in response to it, acknowledging of the detected presence by a predefined first audio output. The first area may be bounded in a direction parallel to a surface of the operator control unit corresponding to a button displayed on the operator control unit. The crossover of the input means from the first area into a predefined second area in front of the operator's control unit may also be detected and acknowledged by a predefined second audio output. Also, a predefined pattern of movement of the input means in the first area may be detected and acknowledged via audio or visual indicia.
