A hydraulic valve for a cam phaser, the hydraulic valve including a housing; a hollow cylindrical piston that is axially movable in a central opening of the housing that extends along a longitudinal axis of the housing and that includes shoulders; a supply connection configured to feed a hydraulic fluid; a first operating connection; a second operating connection; a tank connection, wherein one of the first operating connection and the second operating connection is connectable with the supply connection and another of the first operating connection and the second operating connection is connectable with the tank connection as a function of an axial position of the hollow cylindrical piston, wherein the hollow cylindrical piston includes a feed channel configured to connect with the supply connection and a drain channel configured to connect with the tank connection, wherein a divider wall is configured between the supply connection and the tank connection.

Hydraulic valve for cam phaser

The invention relates to a valve and suitable hydraulic circuit, especially for camshaft adjusters of an internal combustion engine. The hydraulic circuit comprises a number of check valves or two-way valves operating as check valves, in order to provide a rapid camshaft adjuster with a high regulating quality.

Camshaft adjusters are provided for changing the position of a camshaft of an internal combustion engine. One such camshaft adjuster has a locking position that, with regard to design, is freely selectable.

A device and method for the relative adjustment of the angle of rotation of a camshaft with respect to the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine that utilizes a hydraulically activated actuating element, through the adjustment of which the phase position of the camshaft can be directly or indirectly changed. The actuating element is bordered by two pressure chambers, which can be loaded with or relieved of hydraulic fluid via control lines. A control valve is provided, which, depending upon an operating state of the internal combustion engine, forces a flow of oil that is forced from an oil reservoir by an oil pump via a first control line to a first pressure chamber, while oil from a second pressure chamber is returned to the oil reservoir via a second control line, and vice versa. At least one controlled bypass is arranged between the two pressure chambers. In this manner, the speed of adjustment of the camshaft adjuster can be advantageously increased.
