A step path for an exercise device includes a support zone, a return zone, and a transition zone between the support zone and the return zone. In the support zone, a front end of a movable step is supported by a front track guide and a rear end of the movable step is supported by a rear track guide. A transition element supports the rear end of the step between the rear guide track and a base guide track, thereby lowering the step-up height of the exercise device.

A treadmill includes a platform where the platform includes a first side panel and a second side panel spaced apart at a distance from the first side panel, and a gap defined between the first side panel and the second side panel. A treadmill includes a frame, an exercise deck attached to the frame, and a first handle movably attached to the frame. An exercise machine includes a frame, a movable element that is movable in the performance of an exercise where the movable element has at least one selectively adjustable operating parameter that selectively alters a difficulty of the exercise, and a recall mechanism connected to the frame. The exercise machine also includes a processor and memory where the memory has programmed instructions executable by the processor to apply a first difficulty setting of the selectively adjustable operating parameter to the movable element and reapply the first difficulty setting to the movable element based on activation of the recall mechanism.

A treadmill deck may include a first side rail, a second side rail aligned with the first side rail, a first pulley connected to a first end of the first and second side rails, and a second pulley connected to a second end of the first and second side rails. Further, a first cover is connected to the first rail that spans at least a first portion of a first mid-region of the first rail and cantilevers over a portion of the tread belt that provides an unstable footing. The at least one arm rest pivotally connected to the first portion to be oriented between an arm rest storage position and an arm rest operating position.
