A dispensing system for a package of a continuous, severable sheet material comprising a number of individual severable members, such as plastic bags, separated by transverse pre-weakened regions, such as perforations, is composed of a storage container holding the package and a dispensing device. The dispensing device is separate from and is located at a location remote from the storage container. The continuous severable sheet material is conducted to the dispensing device and is threaded therethrough until the pre-weakened separating two consecutive members emerges through the exit of the device. A method for forming a one-sided cling stretch wrap film by adhering a particulate antiblock to one surface of the film while the surface is in a semiplastic state, applying a particle-embedding force to the surface and removing excess particulate matter. The thermoplastic stretch wrap film exhibits a significant level of cling on one surface but no appreciable cling force on the other, the latter surface exhibiting a slide property when in contact with a film or like surface due to the presence of particulate antiblock agent mechanically bonded thereto. The film can be used to overwrap one or a group of articles to form a unitized packaged unit employing any of the known and conventional tension-wrapping techniques. Because of its one-sided cling and slide capabilities, pallet loads overwrapped with the film and in mutual contact avoid film tearing or destruction when the pallet loads are separated from each other.

The present invention includes a new bag packaging system for open mouth bags made of flexible material, preferably a thermoplastic side gusseted bag with handles integrally formed therein, which provides a complete bag packing environment and includes a base member, a bag supply means secured to the base member, and bag-engaging elements supported vertically above the base member opposite the bag supply means at a distance and height for expanding the mouth of the bag and to secure the bag against collapse while loading. Furthermore, the present invention provides a means for continuously presenting a bag-detaching point to the packer which facilitates removal of the bags from the bag supply means and optimizes the loading area. A further feature of the present invention includes minimal structure which could hinder easy removal of the loaded bag from the system. The present invention also provides a total packaging environment wherein bags of several sizes can be simultaneously provided to the packer for selection.

The present invention is a method of continuously making thermoplastic film bags having one-side-free for separation from an opposite side. The method includes providing a continuous tube of thermoplastic film for formation of the bag, such tube having a continuous surface which forms opposing sides of the bags. The tube is directed to a bag forming means which continuously flattens the tube into at least the opposing sides of the bag. The tube must intermittently be partially severed on one of the opposing sides at intervals corresponding to single bag lengths, such severance being made at a location for providing detachable separation of the one wall from the opposing wall. Next a sealed seam is formed across the tube at intervals which provide bottoms to each of the bags, and the bags are then collected in a stack where they are substantially aligned followed by fusing the stack of substantially aligned bags adjacent the severance in the one side for separating the bags from stack one side at a time.
