Coated polyester films

A process for the production of a plastics film in which a polymeric composition comprising a fresh linear polyester and polymer derived from a film of a synthetic linear polyester coated with a composition comprising a thermosetting acrylic or methacrylic composition is shaped by extrusion.

Opaque voided films having a total luminous transmission not exceeding 25% are made from blends of a polyester preferably polyethylene terephthalate, with 3 to 27% of an ethylene or propylene polymer, prepared by dry blending. One end use of the film, as a base for photographic prints is also described.

Voided films of polyester with polyolefin particles

Antistatic polyester films suitable for montage printing processes are made by coating the polyester film during or after orientation with an antistatic composition comprising lithium nitrate and polymeric binder, such as an acrylic copolymer.
