Apparatus and methods for shifting an image back and forth between first and second portions of the retina are described. Apparatus constructed in accordance with principles of the present invention preferably include spectacles, a fixed mirror, a pivoting mirror, a drive motor coupled to the pivoting mirror, and control circuitry coupled to the drive motor, the control circuitry causing the drive motor to pivot between first and second positions to shift an image from a first to a second portion of the retina.

Apparatus and methods for improving vision damaged by retinal

Multiple large screens on movable arms form a gateway beneath which viewers may walk. The screens slide up or down, i.e., toward or away from, the viewers walking below. The screens also pivot in a circular arc to sweep toward, or away from, the viewers. In one embodiment a number of vertical support beams are employed. Elongated arms are attached to the support beams at one end so that the arms can each be rotated about their attached ends. The arms also slide up and down the length of the support beams. Projection screens are attached to the arms so that the screens move as the arms move. In a more specific embodiment each screen is provided with a rear-projection projector for displaying images onto the screens. A computer is used to control the sliding and rotating of the support beams so that preprogrammed patterns can be executed. A computer is also used to control the projectors so that coordinated patterns of images are displayed on the screens.

Video gateway having movable screens

A method and apparatus for displaying an image that is subject to multiple distortions substantially without distortion is provided. The image is recorded from a first viewpoint and subject to a first distortion and played back from a second viewpoint and subject to a second distortion. The display surface may also be distorted (e.g., curved). By mapping back through the projector to the screen and through the camera (at the viewpoint), the image is transformed so that it can be viewed from the viewpoint with little or no distortion.

Method and apparatus for controlling distortion of a projected image

A film editing table includes a light source mounted away from the editor's sitting position, with a light guide transmitting the light to the film editing table's optics to produce images on the table's rear projection screen with a brightness and color temperature substantially the same as the images displayed in commercial theatres such that accurate color judgments can be made for animation film. The editing table can also be used to edit dailies of live action motion picture films. The light source is preferably a Xenon light source and the light guide is preferably a liquid light guide. The end of the guide from which the light emanates is movable along three axes, producing the brightest image possible.

Apparatus and method for editing film

A figure is disclosed having a head with a back projected image to animate the facial expression of the figure. The image is back projected onto the head's face by a wide angle lens inside the head having an extremely short focal length. The lens is adjustable for focusing and image registration purposes in vertical, horizontal and lateral directions with respect to the face by a lens adjustment system also inside the head. The image is brought inside the head to the lens by a coherent fiber optic bundle having a high resolution which transfers the image from a remote image source, such as a motion picture projector. Independent movement of the head in all directions with respect to other parts of the figure is provided by a motion device. The lens adjustment system and fiber optic bundle ensure that the image always remains in proper focus and registration on the face despite free and unrestricted movement of the head by the motion device.
