A method and an anchor for supporting items on a substrate such as drywall. The anchor comprises a structure configured to carry the anchoring element in a minimal cross section configuration through an insertion hole and to effect a first expansion. The anchor further comprises an adjustable cap member configured to be moved to fixedly position the anchoring element to the non-accessible side of the substrate. The anchoring element comprises a base channel member, a top channel member, and a connector-pivoting element configured to pivotally connect the top channel member to the base channel member. The top channel member is configured to be nested with the base channel member in the minimal cross section configuration and to be pivotally rotatable via the connector pivoting element in the plane parallel to the non-accessible side of the wall, with the pivotal rotation of the top channel member providing the second expansion.

A high strength failure-resistant hollow wall anchor having a self drilling threaded installation structure adapted to be broken, after positioning, by an inserted screw, into expandable anchoring elements. The anchoring elements engage internally formed cams and the distal surface of the wall into which the anchor is deployed and are comprised of a plastic sufficiently rigid to effect a threaded insertion and to be broken apart, but which plastic is also sufficiently flexible to be able to form the expansion anchor member on the distal surface of a wall. The anchor includes anti-rotation elements to retard overtightening and anchor removal prior to screw removal.

Self-drilling hollow wall anchor

An improved fixed positionable toggle bolt device for fastening objects to a substrate comprising a metal anchor member having a nut portion and a selectively frangible positioning and holding assembly engaged with the metal member. The assembly comprises two elongated control legs, with the first ends of the control legs being pivotally attached to the metal member. The second ends of the control legs are movably attached to each other by an elongated undercut element interference, with movement of one leg relative to the other, effected by finger tip sliding, causing the metal anchor member to pivot from substantially in line with an insertion aperture in the substrate, to a position parallel to the substrate when the second ends of the control legs are aligned with each other. A positioning collar is engaged with both legs, holding them in place and is movable along the respective lengths of the legs. The legs are arcuate in cross section with a series of axially extending closely spaced rib-like teeth within the arcuate concavity. The collar is adapted to conform to the arcuate concavity together with a step tooth section to provide a one way ratchet with the legs. Once the metal member is positioned behind the substrate and abutted thereto the collar is ratcheted to a snug fit with the substrate and the legs are broken off to thereby fix the anchor in place.

Toggle bolt device

A solid wall plug-type anchor comprised of a molded extrudible plastic material comprises a central hinge section and at least two extension members longitudinally extending from the hinge section. The hinge section permits the extension members to be hingedly moved into engaging nested juxtaposition with each other with nesting of integrally formed depressions and elevations in the engaging surfaces of the extension members. The nested structure comprises a solid, solid-wall elongated anchor with the hinge section at one end of the anchor and with the juxtaposed free ends of the extension members comprising another end of the anchor. The extension members each further comprises a plurality of small, non-contiguous wells which remain open within the nested extension members but which wells are not externally exposed. The wells provide stress relief for the anchor when a large screw or bolt is longitudinally inserted therein by providing a measured initial accommodation of extruded plastic during the screw insertion into a substantially solid interface between the extension members. The free ends of the extension members form a cavity for initial guided insertion of the screw or bolt.

Nested solid, solid wall anchor

A portable exercise device for the full and efficient exercise of any group of muscles provides a predetermined and calibrated resistive force established by virtue of friction forces. The exercise device includes, a housing having an integrally formed handle or a receptacle for attaching an accessory connector at one end and an aperture at the end opposite therefrom, a sheave assembly rotatably mounted in the housing having a exercise cord windably retained therearound, a moveable handle fixed to the end of the exercise cord which extends through the aperture in the housing, a braking assembly operatively associated with the sheave to frictionally and uni-directionally retard the rotation of the sheave assembly when the exercise cord is forceably unwound from about the sheave assembly, an adjustment dial for adjusting the friction forces acting against the rotation of the sheave assembly, and a spring operative associated with the sheave assembly rotates the same during operation of the portable exercise device to normally rewind the exercise cord thereabout.

Portable friction resistant exercise device

A novel method and apparatus for forming an aluminum container with an exposed metallic insert in the closed end thereof with the aluminum and the secondary metal being coextruded during forming of the container. A particularly synergetic combination is achieved by selecting a spherical insert member and providing concave or depressed region in the bottom of the extrusion die mold to partially receive the spherical element. The aluminum flows around the major diameter of the spherical insert during coextrusion but leaves a bottom portion of the insert exposed for external welding to another component.

An apparatus for making and method for forming a dental prosthesis in situ in an edentulouos space defined either adjacent to two existing teeth or between a fixed tooth and a second tooth posterially positioned with respect to the first tooth, and lightly touching the associated gum surface, utilizes a bridge bar assembly having at least one shaped connecting member to be adjustably mounted and connected in the drilled grooves of adjacent teeth, a boss on the bridge bar assembly, and a pontic base adjustably mounted on the boss such that when the bridge bar assembly is in assembled position in the edentulous space for connection to the teeth, the pontic base lightly touches the gum, two spaced mold halves can be placed on the buccal and lingual sides of the edentulous space in which the bridge bar assembly is mounted, (or alternatively, two mold halves with predetermined holes to receive each end of the bridge bar and to permit retention and packing of plastic or pontic forming material), the pontic base can be adjusted relative the associated gum surface to fix the connecting member for the bridge bar assembly relative the drilled section of the teeth, and the edentulous space between the mold halves can be filled with a pontic forming material to form the pontic surrounding the boss on the bridge bar assembly; making the pontic forming material catalytically or chemically set; removing the mold halves; removing the assembly and polishing the sides and undersurface of the pontic or pontics; partially filling the grooves with a filler material; cementing the connecting member in the drilled grooves of the teeth to secure the pontic or pontics in the edentulous space; and applying a cosmetic veneer to the formed pontic or pontics.

An illuminated gunsight adapted to be fixedly engageable with a firearm having existing sighting means. The illuminated gunsight comprises a base member which is fixedly anchored to the barrel of a firearm, or to the existing sighting means or to both the barrel and the existing sighting means. A second member, containing illumination means, such as a light emitting diode (LED), is moveably affixed to the base member. Movement of the LED containing member relative to the anchored base member, into and out of sighting alignment with the existing sighting means provides the electrical activation and deactivation of the LED.

Position actuated illuminated gunsight

A battery terminal connector which electrically interconnects the terminals of two or more batteries and which terminal connector is tapped to provide terminal connection to an external device. The terminal connector also serves as a carrying handle for the batteries. The connector is comprised of two stiff metal members contained within an insulative handle housing offset from the surface of the battery or batteries to permit finger insertion. A portion of said metal members is exposed through said insulative handle housing for external electrical connection. The ends of the metal members are shaped for connection to the battery terminals and the metal members are sized to fit between such battery terminals.
