Refrigeration systems comprising a chemically and thermally stable lubricating composition having high lubricity under all operating conditions comprising (a) fluorochlorocarbon refrigerant, (b) hydrofined base oils, alkylated aromatics or refrigerator oils and (c) selected chlorinated fluorinated and/or fluoralkylated aromatics including unsubstituted and alkyl substituted chlorinated biphenyls, chlorinated polyphenyls, and chlorinated diphenyl ethers, and particularly dodecylmonochlorodiphenyloxide.

Thermally stable lubricants for refrigerator systems

A compressor refrigeration system employing a halocarbon refrigerant, has a lubricant composition in contact with the halocarbon refrigerant over the expected temperature range of the system, the lubricant composition having lubricity and chemical and thermal stability in the presence of halocarbon refrigerant at temperatures of up to at least 130.degree. C., the lubricant composition comprising a thermally stable oil with minor amounts of an alkyl polyhalophenyl ether.

Compressor refrigeration system utilizing thermally stable refrigeration

A local delivery truck 10 is provided with a thermal storage system for cooling the truck for a delivery run after the system has been charged during periods of off-peak power demand. This is done by chilling, with a refrigerant evaporator 32, a first high density fluid 24 such as methyl chloroform and circulating the chilled methyl chloroform from the lower part 22 of the storage container 20 to the surface of a second, lower density fluid 28. the latter is an anti-freeze solution such as water-methyl alcohol, and occupies the upper part 26 of the storage container. The chilling and circulating continues until the anti-freeze solution contains the desired amount of ice and slush which has formed at ever lowering temperatures.

Thermal storage method and apparatus

An oil resistant tubular fuse is taught for submersion in a hot oil bath. An epoxy resin seal is provided between one portion of a fuse ferrule and an annular groove in the fuse body. Alternatively the epoxy resin seal may be disposed between flared portions of the ferrule and an unscored portion of the tubular body. In both cases the adhesive characteristics of the epoxy are such that the seal retains its sealing capabilities in a temperature range from -40.degree. C. to +150.degree. C.

A process for making a oil resistant tubular fuse for submersion in a hot oil bath is taught. Process for making a submersible fuse

A metal casting, containing connected pores, is impregnated with a halocarbon resistant barrier resin, consisting essentially of the admixture of a polyester resin, and from about 1 wt. % to about 70 wt. % of a polyfunctional monomer modifier selected from the group consisting of trimethylolpropane triacrylate, divinyl benzene, pentaerythritol triacrylate or their mixtures, which after curing provides a casting which is resistant to chemical and solvent attack by chlorodifluoromethane and dichlorodifluoromethane and which is impervious to gases and liquids.

Impregnated castings chemically resistant to contact with halocarbon

A centrifugal compressor refrigeration system is made, employing a halocarbon gas refrigerant in contact with a lubricant composition comprising 100 parts of castor oil and from 20 parts to 110 parts of a chemically and thermally stable, low viscosity blending fluid, soluble in castor oil; wherein the halocarbon gas is only slightly soluble in the lubricant composition, which provides good lubricity over the expected temperatures and operating conditions of the refrigeration system and is highly resistant to chemical reaction with the halocarbon and/or materials in the refrigeration system.

Modified castor oil lubricant for refrigerator systems employing

Reliability of power circuit breakers and other equipment containing parts subjected to an environment of arced sulfur hexafluoride is improved by using a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin filled with aluminum trihydrate and thickened with finely divided, highly dispersed aluminum oxide (alumina).

Alumina-thickened cycloaliphatic epoxy materials for use in atmospheres

An extrudable, oil-permeated wicking material, for use in lubricating sleeve metal bearings, is made from a mass of steam-pressure-splayed, swollen, lignin-containing, dried, wood fibers, and a contained lubricating oil; where the weight ratio of oil:lignin containing wood fibers is from about 8:1 to about 3:1, and the oil is contained in microcapillary voids in contact with the lignin.
