A financial services center for use with a remote teller station. The financial services center comprises: a video interface for connecting to the remote teller station; and an ATM operable to dispense funds in response to commands received from (i) the remote teller station, and (ii) a transaction host. The ATM is operable to transmit a transaction update to the transaction host, where the transaction update provides information about funds dispensed in response to authorization from the remote teller station. This ensures that the transaction host receives information about funds dispensed in response to authorization received from each of the transaction host and the remote teller station.

A self-service terminal comprises a plurality of devices, each device providing management information. A management agent is installed in the terminal and adapted to monitor the plurality of devices. In the event that management information from a device indicates that there is a fault, the management creates and transmits a notification. A communications stack is adapted to receive the transmitted notification from the management agent. A self-service terminal application is adapted to (i) monitor the communications stack to receive the transmitted notification, (ii) package the notification within a host message conforming to a host messaging format, and (iii) transmit the host message to a remote host via a legacy network.

Self-service terminal

A system for verifying whether an item retracted into a self-service terminal is the same item that was output from the self-service terminal, wherein the signature data sets generated prior to output and following retraction of the item are compared. A method of verifying whether an item retracted into a self-service terminal is the same item that was output from the self-service terminal is also disclosed.

Item verification apparatus and method

A self-service terminal () for connection to a network () is described. The terminal () has means for receiving payment from a user (), such as a check deposit module and/or a cash receiving module. The terminal () also includes an electronic payment mechanism () for creating an electronic financial instrument for paying for an item purchased via the network (). The electronic financial instrument created is independent of the payment from the user. The terminal () may use a credit card for the electronic financial instrument, and the terminal may have a credit card number associated with it, so that the terminal uses this credit card number as part of the electronic financial instrument. The terminal may be an ATM.

A self-service terminal (SST), such as an ATM, comprises a processor, and two functionally similar devices, for example cash dispense units, and an input/output (IO) port. The processor receives status data from each of the similar devices and determines which set of status data to communicate to a remote host via the IO port dependent upon device status and health parameters contained within the status data.
