A hybrid spread spectrum system includes a signal combiner for (a) receiving a plurality of spread spectrum encoded data signals and (b) forming a plurality of combined signals. A first set of mixers is included for (a) receiving the plurality of combined signals and at least two carriers, and (b) forming at least a two-carrier, constant envelope signal. A second set of mixers is also included for (a) receiving the at least two-carrier, constant envelope signal and a transmitter hopping signal and (b) forming a hybrid spread spectrum signal. The combined signals include (a) [s(t)&#x2212;s(t)s(t)s(t)] and (b) [s(t)+s(t)], where s(t) are three separate spread spectrum encoded data signals. The transmitter hopping signal is a sequence of tones having (a) a duration T, where Tis a chip duration, and (b) frequencies ftaken from a set of 2values, where k is a number of bits from a pseudo-random noise (PRN) sequence.

Coherent and non-coherent hybrid direct sequence/frequency hopping spread spectrum systems with high power and bandwidth efficiency and methods thereof

A method of generating a multicarrier spread spectrum signal having a constant envelope includes partitioning multiple spreading codes into at least a first portion of spreading codes and a second portion of spreading codes. First and second modulating signals, respectively, are formed from the first and second portions of spreading codes. A first carrier spread spectrum signal is modulated with the first modulating signal to form a first modulated carrier signal, and a second carrier spread spectrum signal is modulated with the second modulating signal to form a second modulated carrier signal. The first and second modulated carrier signals are summed to form the multicarrier spread spectrum signal. The method includes combining spreading codes from the multiple spreading codes using majority voting logic to form the first and second portions of spreading codes.

System and method for generating multicarrier spread spectrum signals with constant envelope

A method of generating a composite signal includes the steps of: (a) generating a plurality of sub-carriers, each sub-carrier having a different frequency position in a frequency spectrum; (b) generating a plurality of codes; and (c) forming a plurality of code combinations from the plurality of codes generated in step (b). The method also includes the steps of (d) first modulating each sub-carrier using a respective one of the code combinations formed in step (c) to form a plurality of modulated sub-carriers; and (e) second modulating in-phase and quadrature components of a base carrier using the plurality of modulated sub-carriers to form the composite signal having multiple carriers. The composite signal is a constant envelope signal, and a single sideband signal.

System and method for generating single sideband, constant envelope, spread spectrum signals with multiple spreading codes

A method of retrieving and manipulating electronic information that relates to a printed document. Each printed document contains an initialization marking that is recognizable by an external sensory device and unique to the printed document. When a reader of the printed document desires to retrieve and manipulate electronic information that relates to the printed document, the reader initializes the system by using the sensory device to recognize the initialization marking. The sensory device transfers a code embedded in the initialization marking to a computing device. This configures the computing device to access the stored data and instruction sets associated with the printed document. In addition to the initialization marking, areas throughout the printed document (e.g., text, tables, figures, etc.) also contain markings that are recognizable by the external sensory device. The reader of the printed document uses the sensory device to recognize the markings and transfer the code embedded in the markings to the computing device. The computing device uses the code to retrieve and display the electronic information that relates to that area of the printed document.

Retrieval and manipulation of electronically stored information via pointers embedded in the associated printed material

A method of measuring a pattern of electromagnetic radiation. A plurality of scattered electromagnetic radiation samples are sensed from a transmitted signal formed from electromagnetic radiation. Thereafter, an antenna pattern from the scattered electromagnetic radiation samples is developed. Each scattered sample includes two-dimensional information corresponding with the power detected at a specific coordinate. The scattered samples may be arranged in a matrix, enabling a three-dimensional beamshape of the antenna pattern to be formulated.
